2001 was the beginning of the journey for me (the very first time I handled a mouse). I started making consistent use of computers by enrolling into a program with NIIT as at the time; after missing two scholarships to study in the UK and Canada respectively.
I have always been ‘artistically inclined’; I also have a way with words and some mastery of some sorts over giving vivid expressions to thoughts and images; hence I tilted towards Graphic designs and writing. This I have developed to an enviable heights over the period of time.

There are several ways to make money online. Some are swift and easier but makes you little, instant money while some others requires a lot of time for learning and understanding the system before you can start thinking of profiting from them.
People who come online to make crumbs rarely ever get rich! Their whole understanding of everything online is “quick fixes”, “fast money” and their thinking is so far removed from learning and hard work.
If you truly want to be rich working online, then you must do two major things:

For you to make money online (I mean real consistent money through a business you can grow systematically, then you must own a real internet business (Do not let anybody deceive you).
This is very important.
So let’s start first with what owning a real business online/ making money is not.
There are several channels through which you can make money online... very true; but these channels in themselves are not/ and will never qualify you as an internet business owner. Some of these channels or almost all of them will make you money, but then they cannot be called a BUSINESS.
Therefore, owning a YouTube channel, Blog, Social media platform, Forum, Valuable content online; or even signing up to a network marketing opportunity or Ponzi etc. out there is not/ and will never be a business.

What exactly do you need to kick-start your internet business?
Internet Access: An efficient internet service is a must; that is if you’re really serious about running your business online.
You could do this by purchasing internet data first (because nothing comes for free), then connect to it via your personal computer, ‘real’ smartphone with functional internet capabilities or even a tablet.
For me, my best option for this (in view of work) is my laptop computer, I usually connect it to the hotspot feature on my phone. MTN network appears to be the best in Nigeria at the moment; and Airtel the cheapest and most affordable.
Internet Subscription Money: The data you require to surf the internet must be paid for; and peradventure you happen to exhaust your existing internet data plan, then you’ll be cut-off instantly from the service and be required to purchase another data pack.
Develop a Professional Work Plan: In addition to the two things already stated above, you need to create a professional, feasible business plan. You must bear in mind three (3) major important factors; and they are:
#1. What type of online business do you intend to set up?
#2. What exactly will you achieve from it?
#3. What exactly do you also need to do to achieve your business goals?
Functional Bank Account: You need a bank account to which your payments can be deposited into.
Set up a
Payoneer/ Paypal
Account: This is highly necessary if you’re considering doing business beyond Nigeria; because some persons outside Nigeria (especially of different nationalities) might not be able to pay directly to your bank account here in Nigeria (secondly depending on the type of account you operate as well).
It’s important I let you know that (just in case you’re planning to go for affiliate marketing) most affiliate and freelance websites in the US that accept Nigerians pay with Payoneer or Paypal.
Patience, Hard work and Consistency: These three ingredients are indispensable if you must succeed in creating a true business online and turning it highly profitable with a sustained growth.
Online business is no different from your regular, everyday business, you must have to put in the work first, exercise enough time waiting for maturation while you work at it, weeding and watering it consistently in order not to be killed by weed, eaten by weevils, birds etc.
The most striking advantage of an online business is this: Once the money starts pouring in, it never stops, it will continue to do so, so far you have set up your system and mechanisms correctly with quality content; and not being lazy at pushing your brand.
(7) Honesty and Open Mindedness: You have to be as transparent as possible to succeed in any online business. If you mistakenly or purposely scam somebody, just one bad review or comment about you is enough to tarnish your image online and everybody will be afraid of you (and that is if you’re are not even arrested).
