It was Sadie who won this coveted role. (32) Sadie said she had five callbacks during her audition process before she was cast as Maxine Mayfield in Stranger Things 2. A callback means that the director would like to see an actor again - perhaps to hear them read from the script or see them perform a scene next to another actor. Getting a callback doesn't automatically mean you have a part in the bag but if you keep getting called back this is obviously a good sign because it means they want to see you again.(33) Maxine Mayfield - known as Max - is a girl who arrives in Hawkins and eventually becomes friends with the boys - especially Lucas. She attracts their attention when she beats some of Dustin's high scores at the arcade. Max is a skateboarding tomboy with a somewhat cynical wit. Her home life is not terribly enviable as she has to live with her overbearing and thuggish older step-brother Billy. Max is told the secrets of Hawkins by Lucas and although she (understandably) doesn't believe him at first she later experiences the dimensional monster mayhem of Hawkins for herself and accepts that Lucas was telling the truth. (34) When she did her auditions for the part of Max, Sadie had to read some scenes with Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo. They obviously needed to see if she had good chemistry with the other kids. (35) Sadie had to do some skateboarding training in preparation for her part as Max. (36) Because the character of Max is supposed to be from California, Sadie also had to have a little bit of fake-tan applied to make it look as if she'd recently got plenty of sun.(37) Sadie found it quite funny that her character in Stranger Things was supposed to be from California because in real life she considers sunshine to be one of her deadliest enemies.(38) Although the show Stranger Things is set in Indiana it is filmed just outside of Atlanta in Georgia.(39) Sadie said she turned off her social media notifications when she was cast in Stranger Things 2. It is based on the Fear Street book series by R.L. Stine. The film is set in the fictional town of Shadyside, Ohio, and follows a group of teenagers who must uncover the dark secrets behind their town's history as they are haunted by a vengeful killer. Fear Street Part Two: 1978 is the second installment in the Fear Street film trilogy on Netflix. It was released on July 9, 2021. The movie serves as a prequel to Fear Street Part One: 1994 and delves deeper into the cursed town of Shadyside. Fear Street Part Three: 1666 is the final installment in the Fear Street trilogy directed by Leigh Janiak. This horror film serves as a prequel to the previous two films, Fear Street Part One: 1994 and Fear Street Part Two: 1978. The story takes place in the fictional town of Shadyside, with the narrative alternating between 1666 and the previous time periods. It explores the origins of the curse that has plagued the town for centuries. In this final chapter, the audience is transported back to the year 1666 and introduced to the residents of Union, which later became Shadyside.(43) Eli is a 2019 American horror film directed by Ciarán Foy and written by David Chirchirillo, Ian Goldberg, and Richard Naing. The movie stars Charlie Shotwell as Eli, a young boy suffering from a debilitating illness, and Lili Taylor and Kelly Reilly as his parents. The story revolves around Eli, who is sent to a secluded clinic by his parents in hopes of finding a cure for his rare autoimmune disorder. However, as he undergoes treatment, Eli starts experiencing supernatural events and encounters eerie figures within the clinic's walls. He becomes determined to uncover the dark secrets behind the facility and discover the truth about his illness. Sadie plays a teenage girl in the film who helps Eli. (44) Sadie's most prestigious role came in the 2022 Darren Aronofsky film The Whale. The Whale is based on the play of the same name by Samuel D. Hunter, which premiered off-Broadway in 2012. The film stars Brendan Fraser in the lead role and tells the story of Charlie, a 600-pound recluse who is literally trying to eat himself to death. In the film Sadie plays Charlie's estranged teenage daughter Ellie. Sadie won a lot of plaudits for her acting in this film. (55) Given that the children in the cast of Stranger Things were such a tight-knit bunch, the Duffers were a little worried about the introduction of another young actor into this group. These fears proved ungrounded and it quickly felt like both Max Mayfield and Sadie Sink had always been a part of Stranger Things. (74) The Michael Myers mask that Max wears at Halloween in Stranger Things 2 was surprisingly complicated to make because they didn't want it to look too professional. They wanted a mask that looked like a child or young teenager had made it themselves. Sadie had never actually heard of Michael Myers. The real Michael Myers in the original Halloween film wore a Captain Kirk Star Trek mask that the props people spray painted white. This is why John Carpenter has always joked that he owes his entire career to William Shatner. Look fast for a Jason Vorhees (the killer in the Friday the 13th films) in the background when the children are out trick or treating at Halloween in Stranger Things 2.(75) Sadie said that one of her worst habits is biting her nails.(76) Sadie said she doesn't have any social media apps on her phone.(77) The Stranger Things youngsters were often seen at Six flags amusement park in Georgia when early seasons of Stranger Things were in production. This theme park is only a twenty minute drive from Atlanta. Six flags amusement park now has a spooky Stranger Things maze.(78) When they shot the Halloween scenes in Stranger Things 2 it was hot and humid in Georgia and the actors were quite sweaty so the production and makeup departments had to be very careful to hide this fact and depict an Autumnal aura.(79) Sadie narrated the 2018 animal rights film Dominion, which is an exploration of modern-day animal agriculture.(80) Apart from acting, Sadie has also trained in vocals and dance.(81) For her Stranger Things auditions, one of the scenes Sadie had to do was the sequence where Billy is threatening to run the boys over in his car and Max is shouting at him. The production team on Stranger Things built 40 storefronts with full interiors to create an authentic looking 80s mall. (87) Sadie says that her attempt to take a few items from Starcourt Mall at the end of shooting didn't quite go according to plan. "That mall was huge, it’s still nuts when I think about how big it was. When I first stepped onto that set I truly couldn’t believe it. At the end of shooting, a few people went on some shopping sprees. Millie grabbed a shopping bag and went around the Gap and got a bunch of stuff. I picked out a few clothes, but I accidentally left them in my trailer and they never made it home."(88) Netflix eventually dismantled the Starcourt Mall set - which felt like a shame. The reason behind this is presumed to be that they didn't want any intrepid fans to steal the props. The security on the site was also obviously costing them a lot of money. (89) In 2018, Sadie participated for the first time at Paris Fashion Week in the Undercover Fall show.(90) Sadie is a fan of Gucci.(91) Sadie has been on the show Lip Sync Battle.(92) Sadie was seen sporting flared jeans in 2023. Flares are finally back!(93) Sadie was rumoured to be dating Joe Alywn's brother Patrick - after they were seen spending time together. This was never confirmed. (94) Sadie is a very private person. Emergen-C is a powdered vitamin supplement. The most important thing is that it has to be safe to go inside the actor's mouth. (106) Sadie is a fan of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers.
