About The King James Bible

The King James Bible is often referred to as the King James Version (KJV). There are slightly different versions of the King James Bible and in this e-book we use the King James Pure Cambridge Version which we call KJB for short. The following information is an excerpt from Wikipedia:

King James Version - General History: The King James Version (KJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV) or King James Bible (KJB), is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England begun in 1604 and completed in 1611. In 1612, the first King James Version using Roman Type was issued. This quarto version is only second to the 1611 folio KJV. First printed by the King's Printer Robert Barker, this was the third translation into English to be approved by the English Church authorities. The first was the Great Bible commissioned in the reign of King Henry VIII (1535), and the second was the Bishops' Bible of 1568. In January 1604, James I convened the Hampton Court Conference where a new English version was conceived in response to the perceived problems of the earlier translations as detected by the Puritans, a faction within the Church of England.

James gave the translators instructions intended to guarantee that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its belief in an ordained clergy. The translation was done by 47 scholars, all of whom were members of the Church of England. In common with most other translations of the period, the New Testament was translated from Greek, the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew and Aramaic text, while the Apocrypha was translated from the Greek and Latin. In the Book of Common Prayer (1662), the text of the Authorized Version replaced the text of the Great Bible – for Epistle and Gospel readings (but not for the Psalter which has retained substantially Coverdale's Great Bible version) and as such was authorized by Act of Parliament. By the first half of the 18th century, the Authorized Version had become effectively unchallenged as the English translation used in Anglican and Protestant churches, other than for the Psalms and some short passages in the Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England. Over the course of the 18th century, the Authorized Version supplanted the Latin Vulgate as the standard version of scripture for English-speaking scholars. With the development of stereotype printing at the beginning of the 19th century, this version of the Bible became the most widely printed book in history, almost all such printings presenting the standard text of 1769 extensively re-edited by Benjamin Blayney at Oxford; and nearly always omitting the books of the Apocrypha. Today the unqualified title 'King James Bible' commonly identifies this Oxford standard text.

Louis Segond 1910

La Bible Segond est une traduction biblique en français éditée par la Société biblique de Genève et publiée à partir de 1880. Cette traduction est particulièrement utilisée par les protestants et les chrétiens évangéliques francophones.

La Compagnie des Pasteurs de Genève (aujourd'hui « Église protestante de Genève ») souhaite une traduction francophone plus fidèle des manuscrits originaux hébreux et grecs1. En février 1865, elle commissionne Louis Segond pour cette tâche. Selon la convention signée, la traduction de l'Ancien Testament devra être terminée en six ans. Segond remet son manuscrit à la fin de 1871. En 1874, paraît la première édition de sa traduction de l'Ancien Testament, associée à une traduction du Nouveau Testament due à Hugues Oltramare, professeur de Nouveau Testament à la Faculté de Genève. Louis Segond se rend personnellement à Oxford pour s'assurer de la qualité du premier tirage.

La traduction soulève les critiques des protestants « orthodoxes ». Segond est notamment accusé de porter atteinte à la doctrine de l'inspiration des Écritures et de rejeter certaines prophéties messianiques de l'Ancien Testament. Toutefois le succès d'édition est si grand que Louis Segond décide de se lancer dans la traduction du Nouveau Testament, en utilisant les mêmes principes que ceux utilisés pour l'Ancien Testament, bien qu'il soit davantage spécialiste de l'hébreu que du grec. Malgré l'influence d'Oltramare, il parvient à se faire missionner par la Compagnie des pasteurs de Genève pour cette traduction, qui est achevée en 1879.

La Bible Segond en un seul volume paraît pour la première fois en 1880, avec un premier tirage de cinquante mille exemplaires. Elle aura un énorme succès: éditée simultanément à Oxford, Paris, Lausanne, Neuchâtel et Genève, 300 000 exemplaires seront produits entre 1880 et 1910. Au XXIe siècle, elle est l'une des versions les plus populaires auprès des protestants et des chrétiens évangéliques francophones.

Die Lutherbibel (Abk. LB) ist eine Bibelübersetzung des Alten und Neuen Testaments der Bibel aus der althebräischen, der aramäischen bzw. der altgriechischen Sprache in die deutsche Sprache (Frühneuhochdeutsch). Die Übersetzung wurde von Martin Luther unter Mitarbeit weiterer Theologen (insbesondere Philipp Melanchthon) angefertigt. Im September 1522 war eine erste Auflage des Neuen Testaments fertig (daher auch die Bezeichnung Septembertestament), 1534 eine vollständige Bibel.

Unter Lutherbibel versteht man daher einerseits ein Druckerzeugnis des 16. Jahrhunderts, mit Einführungen, Randglossen und Illustrationen versehen und durchaus als Gesamtkunstwerk anzusprechen, und andererseits ein für den deutschsprachigen Protestantismus zentrales Buch, das sich aus Luthers „Biblia Deudsch" bis in die Gegenwart entwickelt hat, wobei der Pietismus und die moderne Bibelwissenschaft verändernd und bewahrend ihre Anliegen einbrachten.

Gods word is surely the most wonderful and astounding text given mankind throughout all time. Only a thourough study of it can unlock its secrets. We believe it is critical, not just in this time and age, to understand Gods nature. At present everything seems to be upside down, where good is bad and bad is good. Our direction and compass is knowing God wrote His word to stand the test of time since He clearly wrote it prophetically, seeing the end from the beginning. How do we know? We know because He has confirmed many of the events that are happening in the world and have happened even within our own small lifespan. God has spoken of and prophecied about world wide events in The Bible and these prophecies are unique. You will not find anything like The Bible on planet Earth with such mindblowing accuracy and precision. But on a smaller level, each man and woman needs to make up their mind and walk out that which God tells them. That is when we have the signs and wonders following, by acting upon and putting our trust in The word of God, The Bible. It is indeed written that Jesus Christ is the author of our faith and what more can we ask for. I have personally seen people healed from incurable sicknesses such as HIV. Through the authority Jesus gave us I have cast out Demons, seen metal disappear from a body and be replaced with normal bones. I have set people free from the smallest sickness to terminal sickness and I can testify of the immense joy that follows a battle fought and won! There are many witnesses of the signs and wonders that will happen to anyone who choose to believe God and dares to walk the talk. Surely, The Body of Christ is active and alive and God is good to His children! But we need to heed His word and seek the knowledge He has for us. Not just through the word, but through closeness with God and active fellowship with our brothers and sisters. The Holy Spirit will always confirm The Truth that Jesus Christ of Nazareth wants to share with us.

But do not just take this for granted. Gods word can surely be dug into, tested, verified and found worthy. But for you to incorporate it into your life and see the reality of it, requires faith. Living faith, not dead faith. A heartbeat at a time, day by day, feeding upon The Word of God and enjoying the fruit of The Spirit. When we ask God, pursuit the truth He has set before us, He will surely answer in time. Do not think it will lead you to nowhere, cause it will not. This is not just some senseless gong ho as unbelievers will have it, sprinkled with nice stories of miracles and what not. Far from it. We have seen this time and time again. The truth is singular and our creator is true and The One and only "I AM". There are no multiple Gods here, that is a lie from the devil. Neither is God a floating self-aware entity made up by every living being. Earth, or Gaia as many calls it is a fiction and a fairytale. How we have stumbled, fallen and seen death all around us, but never did it enlighten us until Jesus Christ of Nazareth came and showed us the truth and nothing but the truth. He is surely the way, the truth and the life. Unless a person walks it out according to Gods knowledge, that person will continue sleepwalking until the very end. Such an end would be sad to say the least. Wake up now and taste the goodness of God and draw close to Him and He will draw close to you! And if you have already woken up, but are walking around feeling sleepy: *fight* in order to not fall asleep again, seek Father with all your heart, mind and soul and be vigilant in doing so! Even so, I must admit I have no clue as to how God has managed to put together The Bible in the way He has. To my own intellect I looked at The Bible as flawed, beyond repair and full of tairytales. But that was before I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and experienced the power of God through an evangelist who took The Bible literal. The signs and wonders have not stopped since. Not because of me, but because God never changes and He has clearly showed that He wants everyone saved! Hands down, this is the best news I have ever heard and experienced! Love your God with all your heart, with all your might and everthing you are and you will surely conquer whatever comes against you, no matter the size or seeming severity. God seeks your heart, your attention and your affection. Through Him you will overcome the desires and the lusts of this world and live a life of abundance into eternity.

Please forgive me for being so blunt and straight forward. I sincerely wish for you all to be and walk in the blessing God has for you. Some of you are even walking in what feels like a desert, but remember that God will chastise those He loves. Not because He hates us, on the contrary. He is our Father if we let Him, and He will always see to it that as long as we listen to Him we will carry more fruit. And sometimes a time in the desert is needed. Even so, please fear not, because God is surely on your side when you seek Him with all your heart. Surely nothing is impossible with our Father in heaven. If He has spoken it will come to pass! All Glory to God!!

Ils entrèrent dans la maison, virent le petit enfant avec Marie, sa mère, se prosternèrent et l`adorèrent; ils ouvrirent ensuite leurs trésors, et lui offrirent en présent de l`or, de l`encens et de la myrrhe. und gingen in das Haus und fanden das Kindlein mit Maria, seiner Mutter, und fielen nieder und beteten es an und taten ihre Schätze auf und schenkten ihm Gold, Weihrauch und Myrrhen. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. Puis, divinement avertis en songe de ne pas retourner vers Hérode, ils regagnèrent leur pays par un autre chemin. Und Gott befahl ihnen im Traum, daß sie sich nicht sollten wieder zu Herodes lenken. Und zogen durch einen andern Weg wieder in ihr Land. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. Da sie aber hinweggezogen waren, siehe, da erschien der Engel des Herrn dem Joseph im Traum und sprach: Stehe auf und nimm das Kindlein und seine Mutter zu dir und flieh nach Ägyptenland und bleibe allda, bis ich dir sage; denn es ist vorhanden, daß Herodes das Kindlein suche, dasselbe umzubringen. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: Joseph se leva, prit de nuit le petit enfant et sa mère, et se retira en Égypte. Und er stund auf und nahm das Kindlein und seine Mutter zu sich bei der Nacht und entwich nach Ägyptenland. And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. Il y resta jusqu`à la mort d`Hérode, afin que s`accomplît ce que le Seigneur avait annoncé par le prophète: J`ai appelé mon fils hors d`Égypte. Und blieb allda bis nach dem Tod des Herodes, auf daß erfüllet würde, das der Herr durch den Propheten gesagt hat, der da spricht: Aus Ägypten habe ich meinen Sohn gerufen. Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Alors Hérode, voyant qu`il avait été joué par les mages, se mit dans une grande colère, et il envoya tuer tous les enfants de deux ans et au-dessous qui étaient à Bethléhem et dans tout son territoire, selon la date dont il s`était soigneusement enquis auprès des mages. Da Herodes nun sah, daß er von den Weisen betrogen war, ward er sehr zornig und schickte aus und ließ alle Kinder zu Bethlehem töten und an ihren ganzen Grenzen, die da zweijährig und drunter waren, nach der Zeit, die er mit Fleiß von den Weisen erlernet hatte. Stehe auf und nimm das Kindlein und seine Mutter zu dir und zieh hin in das Land Israel; sie sind gestorben, die dem Kinde nach dem Leben stunden. But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee: Mais, ayant appris qu`Archélaüs régnait sur la Judée à la place d`Hérode, son père, il craignit de s`y rendre; et, divinement averti en songe, il se retira dans le territoire de la Galilée, Da er aber hörete, daß Archelaus im jüdischen Lande König war anstatt seines Vaters Herodes, fürchtete er sich, dahin zu kommen. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Déjà la cognée est mise à la racine des arbres: tout arbre donc qui ne produit pas de bons fruits sera coupé et jeté au feu. Es ist schon die Axt den Bäumen an die Wurzel gelegt. Darum, welcher Baum nicht gute Früchte bringet, wird abgehauen und ins Feuer geworfen. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire: Moi, je vous baptise d`eau, pour vous amener à la repentance; mais celui qui vient après moi est plus puissant que moi, et je ne suis pas digne de porter ses souliers. Whose fan [is] in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. Aber Johannes wehrete ihm und sprach: Ich bedarf wohl, daß ich von dir getauft werde, und du kommest zu mir? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Jésus lui répondit: Laisse faire maintenant, car il est convenable que nous accomplissions ainsi tout ce qui est juste. Et Jean ne lui résista plus. JEsus aber antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Laß jetzt also sein; also gebührt es uns, alle Gerechtigkeit zu erfüllen. Da ließ er‘s ihm zu. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: Dès que Jésus eut été baptisé, il sortit de l`eau. Et voici, les cieux s`ouvrirent, et il vit l`Esprit de Dieu descendre comme une colombe et venir sur lui. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. Le tentateur, s`étant approché, lui dit: Si tu es Fils de Dieu, ordonne que ces pierres deviennent des pains. Und der Versucher trat zu ihm und sprach: Bist du Gottes Sohn, so sprich, daß diese Steine Brot werden. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Jésus lui dit: Retire-toi, Satan! And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: Il quitta Nazareth, et vint demeurer à Capernaüm, située près de la mer, dans le territoire de Zabulon et de Nephthali, und verließ die Stadt Nazareth, kam und wohnete zu Kapernaum, die da liegt am Meer, an den Grenzen Zabulons und Nephthalims, That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, afin que s`accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Ésaïe, le prophète: auf daß erfüllet würde, was da gesagt ist durch den Propheten Jesaja, der da spricht: The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, [by] the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; Le peuple de Zabulon et de Nephthali, De la contrée voisine de la mer, du pays au delà du Jourdain, Et de la Galilée des Gentils, Das Land Zabulon und das Land Nephtalim am Wege des Meers, jenseit des Jordans, und das heidnische Galiläa, The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. Comme il marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et André, son frère, qui jetaient un filet dans la mer; car ils étaient pêcheurs. And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. Sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie, et on lui amenait tous ceux qui souffraient de maladies et de douleurs de divers genres, des démoniaques, des lunatiques, des paralytiques; et il les guérissait. And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and [from] Decapolis, and [from] Jerusalem, and [from] Judaea, and [from] beyond Jordan. Une grande foule le suivit, de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée, et d`au delà du Jourdain. Und es folgete ihm nach viel Volks aus Galiläa, aus den zehn Städten, von Jerusalem, aus dem jüdischen Lande und von jenseit des Jordans.

Heureux les pauvres en esprit, car le royaume des cieux est à eux! Selig sind, die da geistlich arm sind; denn das Himmelreich ist ihr. Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Heureux les affligés, car ils seront consolés! Selig sind, die da Leid tragen; denn sie sollen getröstet werden. Blessed [are] the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Heureux les débonnaires, car ils hériteront la terre! Selig sind die Sanftmütigen; denn sie werden das Erdreich besitzen. Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Heureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice, car ils seront rassasiés! Selig sind, die da hungert und dürstet nach der Gerechtigkeit; denn sie sollen satt werden. Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Heureux les miséricordieux, car ils obtiendront miséricorde! Selig sind die Barmherzigen; denn sie werden Barmherzigkeit erlangen. Blessed [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Heureux ceux qui ont le coeur pur, car ils verront Dieu! Selig sind, die reines Herzens sind; denn sie werden Gott schauen. Blessed [are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Heureux ceux qui procurent la paix, car ils seront appelés fils de Dieu! Selig sind die Friedfertigen; denn sie werden Gottes Kinder heißen. Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Heureux ceux qui sont persécutés pour la justice, car le royaume des cieux est à eux! Selig sind, die um Gerechtigkeit willen verfolgt werden; denn das Himmelreich ist ihr. Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Heureux serez-vous, lorsqu`on vous outragera, qu`on vous persécutera et qu`on dira faussement de vous toute sorte de mal, à cause de moi. Selig seid ihr, wenn euch die Menschen um meinetwillen schmähen und verfolgen und reden allerlei Übles wider euch, so sie daran lügen. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Réjouissez-vous et soyez dans l`allégresse, parce que votre récompense sera grande dans les cieux; car c`est ainsi qu`on a persécuté les prophètes qui ont été avant vous. Seid fröhlich und getrost, es wird euch im Himmel wohl belohnt werden! Denn also haben sie verfolget die Propheten, die vor euch gewesen sind. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Vous êtes le sel de la terre. Mais si le sel perd sa saveur, avec quoi la lui rendra-t-on? Il ne sert plus qu`à être jeté dehors, et foulé aux pieds par les hommes. Ihr seid das Salz der Erde. Wo nun das Salz dumm wird, womit soll man salzen? Es ist zu nichts hinfort nütze, denn daß man es hinausschütte und lasse es die Leute zertreten. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Vous êtes la lumière du monde. Une ville située sur une montagne ne peut être cachée; Ihr seid das Licht der Welt. Es mag die Stadt, die auf einem Berge liegt, nicht verborgen sein. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. et on n`allume pas une lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau, mais on la met sur le chandelier, et elle éclaire tous ceux qui sont dans la maison. Man zündet auch nicht ein Licht an und setzt es unter einen Scheffel, sondern auf einen Leuchter, so leuchtet es denen allen, die im Hause sind. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Que votre lumière luise ainsi devant les hommes, afin qu`ils voient vos bonnes oeuvres, et qu`ils glorifient votre Père qui est dans les cieux. Also lasset euer Licht leuchten vor den Leuten, daß sie eure guten Werke sehen und euren Vater im Himmel preisen. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Ne croyez pas que je sois venu pour abolir la loi ou les prophètes; je suis venu non pour abolir, mais pour accomplir. Ihr sollt nicht wähnen, daß ich kommen bin, das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzulösen. Ich bin nicht kommen aufzulösen, sondern zu erfüllen. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Car, je vous le dis en vérité, tant que le ciel et la terre ne passeront point, il ne disparaîtra pas de la loi un seul iota ou un seul trait de lettre, jusqu`à ce que tout soit arrivé. Denn ich sage euch: Wahrlich, bis daß Himmel und Erde vergehe, wird nicht vergehen der kleinste Buchstabe noch ein Tüttel vom Gesetz, bis daß es alles geschehe. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Celui donc qui supprimera l`un de ces plus petits commandements, et qui enseignera aux hommes à faire de même, sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux; mais celui qui les observera, et qui enseignera à les observer, celui-là sera appelé grand dans le royaume des cieux. Wer nun eins von diesen kleinsten Geboten auflöset und lehret die Leute also, der wird der Kleinste heißen im Himmelreich; wer es aber tut und lehret, der wird groß heißen im Himmelreich. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Car, je vous le dis, si votre justice ne surpasse celle des scribes et des pharisiens, vous n`entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux. Denn ich sage euch: Es sei denn eure Gerechtigkeit besser denn der Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, so werdet ihr nicht in das Himmelreich kommen. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: Vous avez entendu qu`il a été dit aux anciens: Tu ne tueras point; celui qui tuera mérite d`être puni par les juges. Ihr habt gehöret, daß zu den Alten gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht töten; wer aber tötet, der soll des Gerichts schuldig sein. But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque se met en colère contre son frère mérite d`être puni par les juges; que celui qui dira à son frère: Raca! mérite d`être puni par le sanhédrin; et que celui qui lui dira: Insensé! mérite d`être puni par le feu de la géhenne. Ich aber sage euch: Wer mit seinem Bruder zürnet, der ist des Gerichts schuldig; wer aber zu seinem Bruder sagt: Racha! der ist des Rats schuldig; wer aber sagt: Du Narr! der ist des höllischen Feuers schuldig. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Si donc tu présentes ton offrande à l`autel, et que là tu te souviennes que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi, Darum wenn du deine Gabe auf dem Altar opferst und wirst allda eindenken, daß dein Bruder etwas wider dich habe, Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. laisse là ton offrande devant l`autel, et va d`abord te réconcilier avec ton frère; puis, viens présenter ton offrande. so laß allda vor dem Altar deine Gabe und gehe zuvor hin und versöhne dich mit deinem Bruder und alsdann komm und opfere deine Gabe. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Accorde-toi promptement avec ton adversaire, pendant que tu es en chemin avec lui, de peur qu`il ne te livre au juge, que le juge ne te livre à l`officier de justice, et que tu ne sois mis en prison. Sei willfertig deinem Widersacher bald, dieweil du noch bei ihm auf dem Wege bist, auf daß dich der Widersacher nicht dermaleinst überantworte dem Richter, und der Richter überantworte dich dem Diener, und werdest in den Kerker geworfen. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
