About The King James Bible

The King James Bible is often referred to as the King James Version (KJV). There are slightly different versions of the King James Bible and in this e-book we use the King James Pure Cambridge Version which we call KJB for short. The following information is an excerpt from Wikipedia:

King James Version - General History: The King James Version (KJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV) or King James Bible (KJB), is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England begun in 1604 and completed in 1611. In 1612, the first King James Version using Roman Type was issued. This quarto version is only second to the 1611 folio KJV. First printed by the King's Printer Robert Barker, this was the third translation into English to be approved by the English Church authorities. The first was the Great Bible commissioned in the reign of King Henry VIII (1535), and the second was the Bishops' Bible of 1568. In January 1604, James I convened the Hampton Court Conference where a new English version was conceived in response to the perceived problems of the earlier translations as detected by the Puritans, a faction within the Church of England.

James gave the translators instructions intended to guarantee that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its belief in an ordained clergy. The translation was done by 47 scholars, all of whom were members of the Church of England. In common with most other translations of the period, the New Testament was translated from Greek, the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew and Aramaic text, while the Apocrypha was translated from the Greek and Latin. In the Book of Common Prayer (1662), the text of the Authorized Version replaced the text of the Great Bible – for Epistle and Gospel readings (but not for the Psalter which has retained substantially Coverdale's Great Bible version) and as such was authorized by Act of Parliament. By the first half of the 18th century, the Authorized Version had become effectively unchallenged as the English translation used in Anglican and Protestant churches, other than for the Psalms and some short passages in the Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England. Over the course of the 18th century, the Authorized Version supplanted the Latin Vulgate as the standard version of scripture for English-speaking scholars. With the development of stereotype printing at the beginning of the 19th century, this version of the Bible became the most widely printed book in history, almost all such printings presenting the standard text of 1769 extensively re-edited by Benjamin Blayney at Oxford; and nearly always omitting the books of the Apocrypha. Today the unqualified title 'King James Bible' commonly identifies this Oxford standard text.

I denne artikkelen følger en oversikt over de forskjellige utgavene av Bibelen som har kommet ut i Norge på gammelnorsk, dansk, landsmål/nynorsk, bokmål, nordsamisk og sørsamisk. Dette er bibelutgaver som har vært lagd spesielt med tanke på Norge. For de danske og samiske utgavene, har de også vært i bruk utenfor Norge, men de har også hatt større eller mindre grader av utbredelse i Norge. I den senere tid har også bibeloversettelser til språk som vietnamesisk, polsk, spansk og andre språk blitt mer vanlige i Norge på grunn av innvandring. Bibelutgaver på slike språk er ikke tatt med i denne artikkelen, da den fokuserer på de språkene som har en lengre historie i Norge, og bibelutgaver spesielt tiltenkt det norske markedet.

Helt siden kristendommen ble innført i Norge, har Bibelen spilt en stor rolle, men det var særlig etter reformasjonen det ble gjort et arbeid for å gjøre den tilgjengelig på språk som var forståelig i et bredt lag av folket. Dette ser man uttrykk for blant annet i at det overveldende flertallet av bibeloversettelser i Norge er fra de fem hundre årene etter reformasjonen og bare noen få kommer fra de fem hundre årene før. Dette henger selvsagt også sammen med andre faktorer i samfunnet, men reformasjonen la sterk vekt på at Bibelen skulle være tilgjengelig på folkets eget språk. De senere pietistiske vekkelsene i Norge har satt fokus på personlig bibellesing, og dette har vært med på å gjøre Bibelen til en svært utbredt og viktig bok i Norge.

Enkelte bibeloversettelser har fått større betydning enn andre. For noen, som for den nordsamiske oversettelsen fra slutten av 1800-tallet, kommer dette av at de har vært enerådende over lang tid. For andre, som Bibelselskapets oversettelse fra 1930, kommer det av at det er svært gode oversettelser.

De forskjellige oversettelsene er oversatt fra forskjellige språk. Noen er oversatt fra tysk, noen fra latin og noen fra dansk eller andre nordiske språk. De aller fleste oversettelsene har brukt manuskripter på grunnspråkene gresk, hebraisk og aramaisk som grunnlag for oversettelsene. Oversettelsene har så blitt gjort etter forskjellige prinsipper, der noen har lagt vekt på å ligge tett opp mot tekstene man oversetter fra, ofte med en tung tekst som resultat, mens andre har lagt vekt på å få en godt forstålig tekst, men dermed ikke alltid klarer å formidle det som står i tekstene man oversetter så godt. Dette er vurderinger man må gjøre i alt oversetterarbeid, også i bibeloversettelse, og man finner flere varianter i norsk bibelhistorie.

Vær obs på at nummereringen på noen vers i denne er endret slik at disse følger King James 1611 versjonen.

Die Lutherbibel (Abk. LB) ist eine Bibelübersetzung des Alten und Neuen Testaments der Bibel aus der althebräischen, der aramäischen bzw. der altgriechischen Sprache in die deutsche Sprache (Frühneuhochdeutsch). Die Übersetzung wurde von Martin Luther unter Mitarbeit weiterer Theologen (insbesondere Philipp Melanchthon) angefertigt. Im September 1522 war eine erste Auflage des Neuen Testaments fertig (daher auch die Bezeichnung Septembertestament), 1534 eine vollständige Bibel.

Unter Lutherbibel versteht man daher einerseits ein Druckerzeugnis des 16. Jahrhunderts, mit Einführungen, Randglossen und Illustrationen versehen und durchaus als Gesamtkunstwerk anzusprechen, und andererseits ein für den deutschsprachigen Protestantismus zentrales Buch, das sich aus Luthers „Biblia Deudsch" bis in die Gegenwart entwickelt hat, wobei der Pietismus und die moderne Bibelwissenschaft verändernd und bewahrend ihre Anliegen einbrachten.

Gods word is surely the most wonderful and astounding text given mankind throughout all time. Only a thourough study of it can unlock its secrets. We believe it is critical, not just in this time and age, to understand Gods nature. At present everything seems to be upside down, where good is bad and bad is good. Our direction and compass is knowing God wrote His word to stand the test of time since He clearly wrote it prophetically, seeing the end from the beginning. How do we know? We know because He has confirmed many of the events that are happening in the world and have happened even within our own small lifespan. God has spoken of and prophecied about world wide events in The Bible and these prophecies are unique. You will not find anything like The Bible on planet Earth with such mindblowing accuracy and precision. But on a smaller level, each man and woman needs to make up their mind and walk out that which God tells them. That is when we have the signs and wonders following, by acting upon and putting our trust in The word of God, The Bible. It is indeed written that Jesus Christ is the author of our faith and what more can we ask for. I have personally seen people healed from incurable sicknesses such as HIV. Through the authority Jesus gave us I have cast out Demons, seen metal disappear from a body and be replaced with normal bones. I have set people free from the smallest sickness to terminal sickness and I can testify of the immense joy that follows a battle fought and won! There are many witnesses of the signs and wonders that will happen to anyone who choose to believe God and dares to walk the talk. Surely, The Body of Christ is active and alive and God is good to His children! But we need to heed His word and seek the knowledge He has for us. Not just through the word, but through closeness with God and active fellowship with our brothers and sisters. The Holy Spirit will always confirm The Truth that Jesus Christ of Nazareth wants to share with us.

But do not just take this for granted. Gods word can surely be dug into, tested, verified and found worthy. But for you to incorporate it into your life and see the reality of it, requires faith. Living faith, not dead faith. A heartbeat at a time, day by day, feeding upon The Word of God and enjoying the fruit of The Spirit. When we ask God, pursuit the truth He has set before us, He will surely answer in time. Do not think it will lead you to nowhere, cause it will not. This is not just some senseless gong ho as unbelievers will have it, sprinkled with nice stories of miracles and what not. Far from it. We have seen this time and time again. The truth is singular and our creator is true and The One and only "I AM". There are no multiple Gods here, that is a lie from the devil. Neither is God a floating self-aware entity made up by every living being. Earth, or Gaia as many calls it is a fiction and a fairytale. How we have stumbled, fallen and seen death all around us, but never did it enlighten us until Jesus Christ of Nazareth came and showed us the truth and nothing but the truth. He is surely the way, the truth and the life. Unless a person walks it out according to Gods knowledge, that person will continue sleepwalking until the very end. Such an end would be sad to say the least. Wake up now and taste the goodness of God and draw close to Him and He will draw close to you! And if you have already woken up, but are walking around feeling sleepy: *fight* in order to not fall asleep again, seek Father with all your heart, mind and soul and be vigilant in doing so! Even so, I must admit I have no clue as to how God has managed to put together The Bible in the way He has. To my own intellect I looked at The Bible as flawed, beyond repair and full of tairytales. But that was before I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and experienced the power of God through an evangelist who took The Bible literal. The signs and wonders have not stopped since. Not because of me, but because God never changes and He has clearly showed that He wants everyone saved! Hands down, this is the best news I have ever heard and experienced! Love your God with all your heart, with all your might and everthing you are and you will surely conquer whatever comes against you, no matter the size or seeming severity. God seeks your heart, your attention and your affection. Through Him you will overcome the desires and the lusts of this world and live a life of abundance into eternity.

Please forgive me for being so blunt and straight forward. I sincerely wish for you all to be and walk in the blessing God has for you. Some of you are even walking in what feels like a desert, but remember that God will chastise those He loves. Not because He hates us, on the contrary. He is our Father if we let Him, and He will always see to it that as long as we listen to Him we will carry more fruit. And sometimes a time in the desert is needed. Even so, please fear not, because God is surely on your side when you seek Him with all your heart. Surely nothing is impossible with our Father in heaven. If He has spoken it will come to pass! Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Und sie brachten zu ihm allerlei Kranke, mit mancherlei Seuchen und Qual behaftet, die Besessenen, die Mondsüchtigen und Gichtbrüchigen; und er machte sie alle gesund. And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and [from] Decapolis, and [from] Jerusalem, and [from] Judaea, and [from] beyond Jordan. Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Denn also haben sie verfolgt die Propheten, die vor euch gewesen sind. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. I er jordens salt; men når saltet mister sin kraft, hvad skal det så saltes med? Det duer ikke lenger til noget, uten til å kastes ut og tredes ned av menneskene. Ihr seid das Salz der Erde. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. I er verdens lys; en by som ligger på et fjell, kan ikke skjules; Ihr seid das Licht der Welt. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. en tender heller ikke et lys og setter det under en skjeppe, men i staken; så skinner det for alle i huset. Man zündet auch nicht ein Licht an und setzt es unter einen Scheffel, sondern auf einen Leuchter; so leuchtet es denn allen, die im Hause sind. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. La således eders lys skinne for menneskene, forat de kan se eders gode gjerninger og prise eders Fader i himmelen! Also laßt euer Licht leuchten vor den Leuten, daß sie eure guten Werke sehen und euren Vater im Himmel preisen. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. I må ikke tro at jeg er kommet for å opheve loven eller profetene; jeg er ikke kommet for å opheve, men for å opfylle. Ihr sollt nicht wähnen, daß ich gekommen bin, das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzulösen; ich bin nicht gekommen, aufzulösen, sondern zu erfüllen. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. For sannelig sier jeg eder: Før himmel og jord forgår, skal ikke den minste bokstav eller en eneste tøddel forgå av loven, før det er skjedd alt sammen. Denn ich sage euch wahrlich: Bis daß Himmel und Erde zergehe, wird nicht zergehen der kleinste Buchstabe noch ein Tüttel vom Gesetz, bis daß es alles geschehe. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Derfor, den som bryter et eneste av disse minste bud og lærer menneskene således, han skal kalles den minste i himlenes rike; men den som holder dem og lærer andre dem, han skal kalles stor i himlenes rike. Wer nun eines von diesen kleinsten Geboten auflöst und lehrt die Leute also, der wird der Kleinste heißen im Himmelreich; wer es aber tut und lehrt, der wird groß heißen im Himmelreich. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. For jeg sier eder: Dersom eders rettferdighet ikke overgår de skriftlærdes og fariseernes, kommer I ingenlunde inn i himlenes rike. Denn ich sage euch: Es sei denn eure Gerechtigkeit besser als der Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, so werdet ihr nicht in das Himmelreich kommen. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: I har hørt at det er sagt til de gamle: Du skal ikke slå ihjel, men den som slår ihjel, skal være skyldig for dommen. Ihr habt gehört, daß zu den Alten gesagt ist: "Du sollst nicht töten; wer aber tötet, der soll des Gerichts schuldig sein." But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Men jeg sier eder at hver den som blir vred på sin bror uten grunn, skal være skyldig for dommen; men den som sier til sin bror: Raka! skal være skyldig for rådet; men den som sier: Du dåre! skal være skyldig til helvedes ild. Ich aber sage euch: Wer mit seinem Bruder zürnet, der ist des Gerichts schuldig; wer aber zu seinem Bruder sagt: Racha! der ist des Rats schuldig; wer aber sagt: Du Narr! der ist des höllischen Feuers schuldig. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Derfor, når du bærer ditt offer frem til alteret, og der kommer i hu at din bror har noget imot dig, Darum, wenn du deine Gabe auf dem Altar opferst und wirst allda eingedenk, daß dein Bruder etwas wider dich habe, Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. så la ditt offer ligge der foran alteret, og gå først bort og forlik dig med din bror, og kom så og bær ditt offer frem! so laß allda vor dem Altar deine Gabe und gehe zuvor hin und versöhne dich mit deinem Bruder, und alsdann komm und opfere deine Gabe. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
