Fighting is looking for. Only one thing is worthy of being looked for in this part of existence: Freedom.”
The honest and stubborn kree warrior has made way for a calm and confident man. As he tries to explain to one of his enemies, who repeats his own past flaws “You are wasting your energies in ephemeral dreams of greatness and letting that invaluable treasures of inner peace and truth elude you,” those which power cannot buy (“the bought ones are counterfeit”).
“ This man has won” is written, once again not referring to his victories in battle, treated like an epiphenomenon. “He defeated vanity and pride by looking at the universe for what it is. He knows what must be done and he does it, even if with regret. He knows truth and peace and wants to share this knowledge. But knowledge must be protected and now he can do so being cosmically conscious” is added in initiatory terms. “I saw and did a lot of strange things... I understood part of what has happened, not everything. Nevertheless, it made me start thinking. And maybe that was all I needed.”
Now he's ready for Thanos.
Thanos is not an ordinary villain: he has his personal Unisphere (guiding spirit, mercurial form in his service, inner master?), he never wavers in his intentions, and he has vaster and broader views than the others. Thanos is present, always acts for a goal and does not allow himself to be carried away by his own actions. As when he graces an enemy at his mercy, because his elimination is no longer useful. So after planning the destruction of entire universes he is heard to say, “Murder without a reason does not suit Thanos.”
In his introductory speech, as all the comic books villains do, he says, “I am the light, the way, the power. Those who know about me must die because knowledge is power.” However, he differs from the classic villains concerning his very
decades can pass that wipe the environment leaving her body fresh and intact. There are doubts even on her own identity: “Often a replicant is unaware of being it.” Druuna tries to hold on to herself, to plumb her ego because it is only there that she can find her salvation. From a sort of amnesia she proceeds towards a greater and greater awareness. “I don’t know where I am, why and what my name is.” "I look for memories. Who am I? My name is Druuna: I'm Druuna. There's someone I’m missing: Shastar.” “Do I exist? My conscience is like a block of ice: feelings, air in the throat, distant associations, pain, anguish and search for oblivion.”
Digging in leads to discoveries, conclusions not taken for granted and overturning of values. Evil “is useful.” “Probe the mind in search of evil; it is the key to understanding the solution.” “The nature of evil is to be found within us, in our genetic structure, it comes from us, and it is part of human nature.”
Corporality and pain are not to be excluded because they anchor to humanity. Pain makes us understand pleasure, but “when it reaches the depth of being, the mind, then man knows (also) what is good and bad.” When he knows them, then he can choose. Knowledge is even inner, more essential. “Machines can understand it more easily than humans can; we have thirst for it” because there are too many distortions, too many filters.
The author immediately says it by making a character utter: “Maybe the city has never been there. Do not be blinded by reason, accept this simple and universal truth: all that exists is a momentary flash in a temporal space extension.” This means seeing without speculation, reserving all judgments, and short-circuiting one's own experiences.
will never know how Matsumoto deals with what in some Traditions are described as Great Mysteries. In a space in continuous ferment, where “matter, light, energy, and time whirl without stopping”, only the vacuum control allows the battleships of the future to move freely, sliding over it and strengthening themselves with it.
In this series, the main purpose is the conquest of immortality, the one that holds together the entire series of events almost to the end. Tetsuro looks for it with all his might and wants to conquer it, without selling his own humanity. Doubts increase during these events: will this affect his way of being? Will he lose his essence? Is this really his wish or was he induced by someone? Until the final sacrifice at the very moment of conquest, once the answer is understood. The immortality sought is his humanity, immortality in life, consciousness of the moment, and participation in the game of the Universe. The body is not a dead weight but the foundation, our ancestors’ physical heritage. Lineage passes on to our children in a perennial cycle. Furthermore, the temporal limit of life gives it a meaning. Loves and friendships, responsibilities and activities: since life ends, people work hard to realize something in the short time they have available and this is what gives rise to feelings like caring about others and kindness towards neighbours.
The end gives an order of priority to things; the world takes on nuances of importance and points of view. Like when you stop to think that work absorbs time and steals it from love. Perhaps even the same path makes no sense but then at this point it is good to choose good travel
Esotericism, the real one, has little to do with supernatural powers. It is more related to the four magical principles linked to the Elements: To Know, Dare, Will and Keep Silent. If there are powers, these happen by chance, they are an epiphenomenon in the path. This is what it basically is, however you want to call it: a way of action, sacrifice and will, in the direction of one's own freedom. The Royal Path, Lesser Mysteries, Master Masons' Lodge, Lapis, Centre of oneself, dozens of synonyms to indicate the discovery and strengthening of one's spiritual part.
A formative journey that results in the principle of self-determination. An example of this approach is Lucifer by Mike Carey. This is the biblical Lucifer, who struggles with what he calls “the tyranny of predestination.” The main theme is that of Free Will in a world where God has decided who will oppose him. To achieve the goal, he is willing to do anything. There is a perfect coherence between the way and the goal, almost overlapping: Lucifer chooses to decide and starts all the events in order to be able to do it forever. “My way can be a blind alley or to bring me to light but I will be the only one to choose it.”
Quoting a bit Crowley, he is transformed from a planet always travelling the same orbit to a star emitting its own light. A transformation that fully includes his own being, including thoughts and actions. “The choice is life,” who allows himself to be guided is already dead. However, he has also a strong link with Knowledge. “In obeying, I found joy as a sacrament. I did not know the invisible crack of a doubt that opens a view of new certainties, the faint whisper of questions that raise the dust of eternity
and thoughts of the inhabitants.” “With every man not only his body dies but also his memory, what he loves and feels, memories and feelings. Every man is responsible for a part of reality and his life is justified by this.” Since the personal dimension dissolves into the collective one, the symbols suggested by time and people and the myth affects the community, personal action is substantially diminished.
It is possible to act on reality as well as to feel it: “As a subject for those who perceive it, even subtle entities exist to the extent that someone thinks of them, feels them, and remembers them,” but all together, in a sort of mass experience, which gives strength but not direction: “Where are we going? I don’t know, but we’ll go together.”
In any case, one doesn’t end up in a sterile nihilism because ways out are provided and also a different approach that reminds Synchronicity. “Reality is a fantastic invention, and so is the whole story,” but precisely for this reason “It doesn’t matter what we do but why we do it.” “Making sense of life is too pretentious. Sense and destiny ('sentido' and ‘destino’ in Spanish) are anagrams. Freedom does not consist in forcing our life but in accompanying its movements, being attentive and helpful.” “You must be faithful to desire. Only this, there is no other salvation.”
Lone Sloane
For Druillet not always the same forces are ruling the world. On the contrary, “At the borders of the great chaos, at the last door on the infinite, where the great cosmic currents are created with the bodies that fertilize the universe,” life and death are all one
what allows me to be the X-men leader. The more you tried to surface it, the more I became able to resist you. You could not misdirect what I've embraced long time ago, you could not tempt me with what I already have.”
The distinction between good and evil in terms of character is less clear-cut, what matters is what you do. Therefore, next to Colossus, so naïve that borders gullibility, there are characters that are anything but recommendable, with a troubled and despicable past. In moving from bad guys to good guys, from enemies to allies and vice versa, changing purposes and methods, environments and relationships, the characters evolve, taking off in more and more conscious directions; sometimes following immediate decisions that reveal their essence to themselves, surprising themselves first. This is case of Rogue, emblematic concerning the development of her personality because she can “try” by the score, as physical contact with others makes it possible for her to assume powers and memories.
Training refers to all of them, and if it is complicated to distinguish a common path being so many, it is perhaps less considering the group as a whole, a union of so different, also in terms of nationalities, people that are become tight-knit maintaining their own individuality.
“ Changing is growing, and growing is living” is said.
The outcome of the battles is decided previously, the mental level prepares the physical one. Mister Sinister plans his moves and plays with the lives of others moving them as chess pieces because he has a profound knowledge of their psychology: “He believed me because he wanted to believe me. Vanity is the key to the other's soul, and therefore to the dominion over them. Analyse them inside and out, learn where they are strong and where they are not, what they fear and what
