Introduction

Ice cream - a real treat for the senses that refreshes and makes us happy on warm days. But what exactly is ice cream and what makes it so special? In this introduction we will address these questions and take a look at the history and differences between ice cream and ice cream. We'll also take a look at the different types of ice cream machines that can help us make homemade ice cream.

Ice cream is a frozen delicacy made from a mixture of ingredients such as milk, cream, sugar and various flavors. It is a truly diverse product that comes in countless flavors and variations. From classic varieties such as vanilla and chocolate to exotic fruit varieties and unusual combinations such as salted caramel or matcha, there is the right ice cream for every taste.

The origins of ice cream reach far back into history. As far back as ancient China and ancient Rome, ice cream was flavored with fruit and honey and enjoyed as a refreshment. Ice cream making evolved over the centuries and it finally made its way to Europe in the 17th century, where it quickly gained popularity.

What makes ice cream so special is its versatile nature and the ability to customize it to your liking. The combination of creamy texture, intense aromas and the refreshing cold makes ice cream an irresistible treat. It is a sweet seduction that accompanies us during the summer months and puts a smile on our faces.

A question that often comes up is the difference between ice cream and ice cream. While both terms are often used interchangeably, there are actually some differences. Ice cream is typically lower in fat and often made with milk, while ice cream is higher in fat and made with cream. This leads to differences in texture and taste experience. However, the terms are defined differently in many countries and there is no universal regulation.

Ice cream machines are used in the production of ice cream to help us achieve the perfect consistency. There are different types of ice makers, including manual ice makers, which operate with a hand crank, and electric ice makers, which automate the process. Each type has its pros and cons, and choosing the right ice cream maker comes down to individual needs and preferences.

In this book we will take an in-depth look at how to make homemade ice cream. From the basics of ice cream making to ingenious recipes and useful tips and tricks, you'll find everything you need to conjure up your own ice cream creations. Be curious about the following pages, where we will explore the wonderful world of ice cream and let your culinary creativity run free.

There are basically two main types to choose from when choosing an ice maker: compressor ice makers and freezer bin ice makers.

Compressor ice cream machines are the most professional and powerful machines for making ice cream. They have a built-in compressor that controls the cooling process during the stirring process. With such a machine you can prepare several batches of ice cream in a row without having to freeze or pre-chill in between. They offer constant and precise temperature control, resulting in an even freezing and a creamy consistency. Although compressor ice cream makers tend to be more expensive, they offer you the most flexibility and convenience when making ice cream.

On the other hand, we have freezer bin ice makers, also known as pre-frozen bin ice makers. These machines work with a removable freezer container that needs to be pre-chilled in the freezer for several hours before use. Once the container is sufficiently chilled, it is inserted into the machine and the stirring and freezing process begins. Freezer-bin ice makers are usually less expensive than the compressor models and are good for occasional use or if you only want to make small batches of ice. However, you need to plan ahead and chill the freezer container in good time before you can start making ice.

Both types of ice machines have their pros and cons, and the choice depends on your needs and budget. If you make ice cream frequently and want to try out different flavors, a compressor ice cream maker might be your best bet as it allows you greater flexibility and immediate use. However, if you only make ice occasionally or are on a budget, an ice maker with a freezer bin can be a good option.

Regardless of the type of ice cream maker you choose, with both types you will be able to enjoy delicious homemade ice cream and express your creativity in the kitchen.

The following recipes are designed for small compressor machines, which usually have an ice cream container for 600ml ice cream. This means that you can easily scale up the amount depending on the machine.
