The Crash

It was a beautiful spring day, the sun was shining bright and the smell of spring flowers was in the air however, the pollen was still high from the tree buds that bloomed.   It just wasn't a good time for those with allergies or hay fever, which was the case for several girls driving down Miller Avenue in Yorkstown with the windows up, the air condition on and the music playing.   They were all indulged in heavy conversation when the driver of the car drove towards a railroad crossing with crossing guards.   Normally, when a train is rapidly approaching, the crossing guards is lowered to caution and stop the driver from crossing the railroad tracks but that wasn't the case that day and just as she commenced to cross the track, a rapidly moving locomotive crashed into them splitting the car in half.   Instantly killing two of the girls and the other was thrown from the vehicle and landed into the brush and was critically injured but the train never stopped.

The people in nearby homes and those that were driving along stopped to rush to their aid when the ambulance, police and fire department was called and rushed to the scene.   Strangely, no one saw what happened, they just heard the loud devastating crash.   Shortly, the coroners arrived and took away the dead girls bodies and the girl that survived was questioned once the paramedics loaded her wounded body onto a stretcher.   She was in and out of consciousness with a deep gash in her forehead and both arms and legs were badly bruised and wounded, it's a miracle she survived.

“Young lady, can you hear me!” The paramedics asked when she slightly nodded.
