Overcoming In The Spirit World, is volume 2 of “Life in the spirit world series, having two parts: the first, “Faith over the spirit world” and the second, “power for your spirit”.
You need faith to overcome in the spirit world. The faith you need is the MUSTARDSEED kind of faith, the faith that has its foundation on the WORDOFGOD, ACTIVEFAITH, and a FEARLESS FAITH.
Above all, you need to be equipped in your spirit, and this is by having a good knowledge of the scriptures, diligently seeking God and having the HOLY GHOST.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ brought the believer back to his rightful position where he can overcome the devil. YOU CAN HAVE VICTORY over the spirit world of the devil.
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord have mercy on my son for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for often times he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water …Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them. Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if you have FAITH as a grain of MUSTARD SEED, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:14-20.
Some have said that this statement made by Jesus is a metaphorical statement. Others have tried to use their human knowledge to interpret it. But if you are the person who reads the word of God, taking it as it is, and puts it into action, it shall be so unto you.
A man of God took this passage just as it is and acted upon it. He said the mountain is what you see with your eyes. This man of God had so many bills to clear including electricity bills and house rents which had all mounted up and he had no money to pay. He kept the bills (papers) on his table and said to them, “As Jesus said, I say unto you bills, be paid in the name of Jesus”. Anybody who saw him doing that would have said immediately that he was being stupid because it is abnormal to talk to papers. That is what it takes to have faith in God. Faith goes the UNUSUAL way. At the end the bills were paid.
Take the word of God as it is and it will be so to you, for Jesus Christ demonstrated it. Jesus was in the boat sleeping when they woke him up with the storm raging. Do you not see a storm with your eyes? Sure you do. Do you not see a river with your eyes? Sure you do. The mountain could be any desperate situation before you. The disciples called unto Jesus and said, “master we perish”. Jesus rebuked them of their faithlessness and spoke to the waves, and the waves had ear to hear the word of God and obeyed it. EVERYTHING created of God, living or non-living has ears to hear the word of God and to you that is in Christ, nothing shall be impossible.
At what degree in your life should your faith be able to move the mountains before you? At what stage of your life should the word that comes out of your mouth be able to move a demon out of somebody? These are some of the questions that have been bodering the minds of many Christians, but Jesus said, “IF YOU HAVE FAITH AS SMALL AS A MUSTARD SEED,…NOTHING shall be impossible unto you.
Your faith does not need to be big before you can do a big thing. Neither does it need to be big before you can cast out a demon. What you need to understand in human language is that faith is taking risk for God. On behalf of God, you are plunging into a thing. That is what you are doing when you are dealing with demons. And when you do that, God backs you up and the host of heaven backs you up also.
In our main passage, Matthew Chapter 17, the man brought his child that was possessed with an evil spirit to Jesus but met the disciples. The evil spirit tormented the child so much. At times it threw him into the fire and at other times it threw him into water. The father of the boy was helpless. He needed help and when he met the disciples he quickly told them his problem, and they began to cast out the evil spirit.
