The Sassy Fashion Merchandiser

Part 1:   Do On To Others As You Would Have Them Do On To You

It all began when Dominique Ayers was hired as a top-notch fashion merchandiser for a large retail store in New York. She was very fashionable; she had poise, style and knew a great deal about the fashion world. Her ambition to be successful was a driven desire within but somewhere along the way, her automatic flip switch fueled an ugliness that changed her entire demeanor.

She lived in uptown New York in a luxury penthouse apartment that was elegantly designed. She had her own workout spa, a personal masseuse, and even an indoor pool. She enjoyed her career and her lavish lifestyle all sparked from her hard work of many accomplishments.

Deirdre Evans was a sales manager of the store and she had arrived very early before time to open of which she does every morning. She would turned on the lights in the back offices, placed her belongings into her locker and proceeded to the break room area to make coffee.

Shelly Speers was the lead sales representative, who also arrived early and greets Deirdre in the break room joining her with a cup of coffee.

“Good Morning, Deidre! Ah, this is just what I need to get my adrenaline going!” Shelly admitted.

“I know what you mean and we're going to need all of the perks we can get because we got a busy day ahead of us. That huge sale starts today and will last all week long on all of the fall and winter items from 30% to 75% off and you know customers will be pouring in today because no one wants to miss a good sale! Oh and thanks for staying late last night to help us get all the markdowns tagged. You’re starting to become the perfect candidate for an assistant manager so keep up the good work!” Deirdre complimented.

“Oh, you’re welcome! I didn’t think we were going to ever finish but we did.” Shelly expressed observing some other employees putting their belongings into their lockers.

“Good Morning ladies!” They both greeted headed out into the store.

“Shelly would you help me move all the sale items to the front of the store so they can be seen by the customers firsthand. We will also need to move all the mannequins to the back so we can display the new spring and summer fashions that have arrived.” Deirdre mentioned.

Shelly got several other sales reps to help move the sale racks while she gathered the mannequins. “Wow, where did the time go?” Deirdre thought to notice the clock as it was opening time.

The first day was quite busy. The fall and winter sale turned out to be a huge success. Deirdre had just laid out some designs that Dominique suggested for the new spring line. Once the clothing was placed on the mannequins, she’d called the sales reps from their various departments to get their opinion. Deirdre valued her employee’s opinion and believed in working together as a team.

“We are all in this together. Individual commitment in a group effort and that's what makes a team work!” She often said.
