It had been a typical day at the office for Bernice Thomas, the usual data spreadsheet entries, compiling financial interface, revenue research and adjustments, handling phone calls, interacting with other office personnel, filing, faxing and copying for the finance company she worked for. She was very productive, yet; a nonchalant type of person. She came to work, did her job and was out the door promptly at 5:00 pm. In fact, her professionalism and prestige made her quite distinguishable, as she aimed to climb the corporate ladder towards a career. Consequently, all of her exceptional kudos became quite apparent, especially to several shrewd young ladies of whom had years of standing with the company and were avid to befriend her.

The day had finally ended and while waiting at the bus stop on a nearby corner, Joy, Chelsea, Peyton, and Madison, who were carpooling together noticed her.
“Look Y'all there she is! What's her face?” Chelsea alerted as they drove out of the parking garage.
“Her name is Bernice, Chelsea!” Joy corrected.
“Whatever.” Chelsea retorted.
“Yea, well she's killing it in the Finance Department. Rumors say that she has become one of the best candidates for company-wide recognition!” Joy added.
“Yea, she's really smart!” Madison agreed.
“Wow, I like to meet her! Let's see if she wants a ride!” Peyton suggested when they pulled up next to the curve.
“Hey Bernice,” they smiled.
“Hey,” she responded.
“Girl, we have been trying to speak to you all day! But you've been so busy, we never get the chance,” they all agreed.
“Oh really! I hadn't noticed. I do keep my mind on my work and I guess I'm guilty of that but the next time, just come over to my desk to say hello, I'm sure you all will be acknowledged,” she expressed.
“Yea, my bad! I guess I could have but with you being so busy, I didn't bother. So I see you're waiting for the bus, I'll be happy to give you a ride! Where do you live,” Joy offered?
“Oh no, but thanks! The bus will be along in a minute,” she confirmed.
“Oh, don't be silly! I'll be happy to take you home and you can be home in no time. It sure beats standing around waiting for that darn bus!”
Bernice hesitated glancing down the street to make sure the bus wasn't quickly approaching.
“C'mon girl, get in,” Joy insisted.
“Well, are you going near the Springwood area? Because that's where I live.”
“Girl, that's on our way! Hop in,” Joy invited noticing the girls making room for her to enter the vehicle.
Consequently, minutes after they drove away the bus came cruising down the street. Along the way, the girls interacted in a little friendly chitchat.
“So Bernice, how do you like your job,” Peyton inquired?
“Oh, I love it! And I'm learning a lot,” she replied.
“So you've been with the company now - what 4-months,” Madison queried?
“Actually it's been 6 months now,” she corrected.
“Has it been that long? I didn't realize! Well how do you like working for Scott,” Madison quizzed?
“I like him! He's really nice,” she smiled.
“He's cute too huh,” Madison added noticing her smile.
“Well, he's an asshole if you ask me,” Chelsea voiced.
“Chelsea! That's her boss you're talking about,” Joy snapped.
“I don't care! It's true! He's a sneaky, conniving asshole! I know, I used to work for him. But don't worry Bernice, you keep working for him and you'll eventually see that side of him,” Chelsea informed.
“Aw, you're just mad because he rejected you coming on to him, that's all,” Peyton confirmed.
