Two good friends, Jerry Dobbs and Larry Wilkes planned a week vacation in the woods of Fayetteville Arkansas to hunt razorbacks and were successful in killing three large boars, but little did they know that the enormous mother of these three boars became quite outraged, seeking vengeance by destroying everything at their campsite leaving them completely defenseless for her vicious attack. Consequently, their backs were against the wall as they prepared for battle between two men against a colossal beast.

The Great Habitat

Deep in the hills of Fayetteville, Arkansas at remotely small hunting lodge, Jerry Dobbs and his good friend Larry Wilkes along with their three dogs settled on a week vacation to lodge, fish and hunt for one of the fiercest tempered predators known to man, Razorbacks.

Fall had arrived and from the front deck of the lodge, there was a spectacular view of an array of fall colors from the variety of tree species; well mixed with evergreens throughout the hardwood forest that revealed an aroused anticipation.

Early the next morning, the guys unloaded their large 4-wheeler from the truck, impounded the dogs and grabbed their hunting gear to embark the great wonders of the woodland.  From the hills, the guys drove down as far as they could towards the wooded depths of hollows and thickets, an ideal habitation for razorbacks.

“I think this is far enough to let the dogs go Jerry.”  Larry suggested.

“Yeah this is a great spot!  Do you have the GPS tracking device so we can keep track of them?”  Jerry asked getting off the 4-wheeler.

“Yeah, I have it right here.”

“Okay let them go!”  Jerry requested watching as Larry opened the large cage containing the two hound trackers.

They watched as the two hounds took off in rapid speed into the wild for an aggressive hunt.  They waited glancing at the tracking device as they listened for the dogs vigorous high-pitched bark tone, which indicated they’ve cornered a razorback.

“Sounds like they’ve one!   The dogs will hold him off but let’s take old Dozer to finish him if he’s gets too aggressive.”  Larry recommended quickly opening the cage to leash the Pit-Bull then grabbed his rifle as he and Jerry took off into the woods.

“C’mon, let’s go get him!”

True enough when they arrived, the dogs had the boar cornered in a hollow old tree trunk, as it aggressively tried to gnaw the dogs in its violent struggle.  They waited to see if the hounds could sway the swine from its habitat but the large hog was quite fierce and they didn’t want to chance any harm to the dogs, so they unleashed old Dozer to get the job done.  The great melee lasted for about 10 minutes as the Pit-Bull’s ferocious attack lured the big boar from the hollow piecing its jugular vein to death.

“Ooh wee!  He’s big one!”  The guys ranted quickly securing the 200-pound razorback with rope.

They captured three razorbacks that day and that evening back at the lodge they suspended the secured large boars high on a tree branch out near the small cabin while posing in picture taking of their great capture.  Later, while sitting out on porch eating burgers and drinking beer they celebrated over their great gain until nightfall when suddenly they heard something immensely stirring in the woods.

“Something is moving out there!  Listen, you hear that?”  Larry spoke lightly.

“Yeah!  What is that?”  Jerry asked as the threatening ruckus loudly sounded.

They stood from their chairs avidly gazing into the darksome wilderness as the tumult of rustling brushes, crackling of deadwood and swaying treetops began to alarm them.  Loud gruesome snarls and grunting echoed throughout the hilltop, as the unexpected roaring sinister encircled the small cabin’s finite perimeter when they realized something enormous was quickly approaching.
