Selina is in the second grade. She finally gets to visit her father at work. He runs the "Super Wave" dolphinarium. There she sees the dolphin Scarby, who had been found injured on the beach. When her hair ribbon falls into the pool with the dolphins, she leans way over the water ... and loses her balance ... splash! A richly illustrated, exciting and touching story that raises awareness for the consequences of captivity. In the appendix is a lot of information about whales and dolphins and nice photos.

First of all I would like to thank Viktoria Leo and her father Markus. They proved to be wonderful actors when I took photos as a reference for my drawings. Viktoria’s mother was wonderfully supportive of taking the pictures at the swimming pool.
Thanks go also to my husband, my parents and my best friend Christine for their help.
To create the translation from German to English I am thankful for the help of Christine and my kids Maximilian and Varena.
Also, thanks to my friends in the Azores, without whom I would not get the opportunity to take such fantastic shots of whales and dolphins: Futurismo Whale Watching, Bela Vista Alojamento and Aqua Acores (islands: Sao Miguel and Pico).
My other books are suitable for children of 8 years and older. In most of the stories you will learn more about whales and dolphins. Other projects are about elephants, seals or about a young blackbird. I am curious to find out which animals will „sneak up“ on me in the future, so I can write about them and draw pictures of them. I have to mention my novel for age 12+ and adults “Through the Eyes of the Orcas” too.
Selina is in second grade. She likes school and today she has a special reason for looking forward to going. During the past few weeks the fathers and mothers of her classmates have talked to the pupils about their jobs. Today at long last it‘s Selina’s father’s turn. He used to have a boring office job, but for the last couple of months he has been manager of the dolphinarium Super Wave.
In the classroom Selina is allowed to stand next to her father up front. “I am very excited”, she whispers to him.
He smiles and takes her hand. Selina is very proud. So far no other father has had such an exciting job.
“At Super Wave you can learn a lot about dolphins. The animals have plenty of space for swimming and are very happy”, Selina’s father says.
Then he describes the tricks the dolphins perform.
The children are thrilled.
They all love dolphins.
Selina’s father holds up a piece of paper and declares: “I have a small present for each of you!” Selina’s classmates are amazed and curious. A gift?
“These are vouchers. You can watch a dolphin show for free.”
The children cheer.
Selina is allowed to hand out the slips of paper. Some of her classmates can barely wait and literally snatch the papers from Selina’s hand. Selina’s Dad finishes with “I am looking forward to your visits!” Everybody applauds loudly.
School is over. “I want to visit the dolphinarium, too. I’ve never been there “, Selina says on the way home.
“I know, but it wasn’t possible. I had to learn the ropes first.” He smiles at his daughter. ”You know what? Why don’t you come and see me at work tomorrow after school?”
“Yippee!"
Selina jumps for joy.
Selina is very excited. Super Wave surely is wonderful.
“Mom, tomorrow I will see real dolphins!“, she immediately reports to her mother at home, her eyes sparkling.
Finally it’s evening. “Only one more sleep“, Selina thinks.
She is allowed to watch some TV because she is not yet tired. Selina is too excited to become calm. By coincidence there is a documentary on about dolphins in the sea. Selina is glued to the screen. Occasionally she claps her hands full of enthusiasm. “Mom, Dad, look how many dolphins there are swimming there!”
Her Father looks up from his newspaper and her mother puts her book down. All three of them have a smile on their faces.
For once Selina goes to bed without grumbling. She looks for her favourite cuddly toy, a blue dolphin, and snuggles up in her blanket.
“Tomorrow I’ll come to see you“, Selina whispers to her dolphin.
She rubs her eyes and yawns but she can’t fall asleep.
