Book Presentation: Bush Must Go by Bill Press

Book Abstract

Bush Must Go is Bill Press’ call to arms in the effort to make sure George W. Bush does not win a second term in 2004. Press lays out the 10 most important reasons why Bush should not be allowed to keep the presidency and he thoroughly explains the points he makes.

The book is written in the James Carville-style of providing readers with plenty of ammunition to argue against the Bush presidency. Press scours through hundreds of documents and quotes to provide the facts needed to back up his arguments and the recurring theme throughout Bush Must Go is that the president simply can’t be trusted and has lied to the American people way too often.

Bill Press passionately believes that Bush is leading the country in the wrong direction and that another term will bring more of the same.

Summary of Bush Must Go (Bill Press)

Reason #1. The War In Iraq: Bush Lied Us Into War

The worst thing a president could ever do is take America into war on false pretenses and that’s exactly what George W. Bush did. He launched a war on terror and then abandoned it for a long, costly and unrelated war in Iraq. He sacrificed the lives of hundreds of American soldiers, not because he had to, but because he chose to.

President Bush gave six reasons why the U.S. had to go to war with Iraq and to this day, there is no evidence to support the six reasons he gave.

We tried diplomacy and it had failed.

Wrong, Bush defiantly told the United Nations’ General Assembly that if they didn’t join the war he had already decided upon, the UN would be irrelevant.

War was the only option.
