Book Presentation: Outfoxed by Alexandra Kitty

Book Abstract

America’s free and unfettered press was supposed to be a cornerstone of the democratic process envisioned by our Founding Fathers. To the great misfortune of Americans, our Founders did not adequately define this process or the terms and conditions under which such moral reckoning should be taking place. They appear to assume that journalists, like doctors or attorneys, were clear on what their job was and how to do it.

Alexandra Kitty believes journalists, Congress, media owners and Americans need to open a dialogue about why the assumptions implicit in the Constitution are no longer relevant. There needs to be a discussion of what journalism, media and reporting should be accomplishing. According to Kitty, if this doesn’t happen, Rupert Murdoch and Fox News will continue to mold American views, values and actions with their proven mixture of bombast, arrogance, censorship and infotainment to the detriment of everyone else. Outfoxed explores exactly how Murdoch manipulates public opinion, manages his staff and controls the news that Americans receive while achieving the reactions most beneficial to Murdoch and his followers.
