Book Presentation: They Just Don’t Get It by Colonel David Hunt

Book Abstract

Colonel David Hunt was not surprised by the events of September 11, 2001. What happened was inevitable given the disorganized and half-hearted anti-terrorist activity conducted by the various, frequently non-communicating agencies within the United States government.

In They Just Don’t Get It, Hunt provides a game plan for winning the war on terrorism while dispelling some of the myths being propagated by people who really don’t know what is effective. Hunt explains that to win the war on terror, we need to improve our intelligence apparatus, change our leadership styles and reduce the bureaucracy that is inhibiting our ability to make decisions.

A former Senior Research Fellow at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, Colonel David Hunt - U.S. Army (retired) - is a specialist in counter-terrorism, special operations and intelligence. He also serves as a military analyst for Fox News Channel.

Americans are fixers, we always have been. How do we fix this problem of global terrorism? First, we need to realize that our foe is not a few guys who live in caves. It includes those men plus a number of countries that provide them with money, sanctuary and training. Without this help, terrorists cannot be effective. Our government needs to demand that other countries stop funding terrorism and offering succor to terrorists. Our government does not appear to be up to the task and over the years, we have failed to respond appropriately to terrorists.
