That God will be driven from American public life and reduce us to the civilizational ennui that now characterizes a declining Europe.That America will lose the patriotic sense of itself as a unique civilization.That America’s economic supremacy will yield to China and India because of failing schools and weakening scientific and technological leadership.That an aging America’s demands on Social Security, Medicare and related government programs will collapse the system.Gingrich’s 21st century contract sets up a vision and a plan for a grassroots movement as he explains the changes that need to be made in order to ensure a successful America for future generations.
About the Author
Newt Gingrich became famous during the Clinton Administration. In 1994, Gingrich led the Republican Party to a stunning victory, completely overtaking the House of Representatives. He served as Speaker of the House and led the conservatives in accomplishing many Republican goals, including the first major tax cut in sixteen years, welfare reform and balanced budgets for four years in a row. Since leaving Congress in January 1999, Gingrich has performed an in-depth study of national security, health, science and the economy.

Will We Survive?
The morning of 9/11/2001 was a horrible time for America. But what if a morning more horrible were to dawn on our great country? No weapons of mass destruction have been used on American soil, but that should not lull us into complacency. Though we spend billions of dollars a year on national security, our country is still not prepared for a possible attack. Some research estimates that our intelligence capabilities are one-third of the size we need and that our military is not prepared to fight the wars of the future.
One threat is nuclear weapons. If terrorists obtain such weapons, they could kill millions of people. Another threat is a biological attack, which could kill thousands of Americans. Another threat is an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapon, which could short-circuit our electrical systems. And then there are conventional threats, including bombings and sniper attacks.
To survive and conquer the mounting threat from terrorist organizations and rogue governments that support them, we must transform the entire American national security system. We must ensure that America has:
