Chapter 1: Traditional Rituals and Celebrations on Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day, also known as Valentine's Day, is a popular holiday celebrated on February 14th in many countries around the world. This day is considered a time to express love and care for each other. In this chapter, we will look at the traditional rituals and celebrations associated with Valentine's Day.
Historical roots
The history of Valentine's Day is closely connected with religion and myths. There are several versions of how this holiday originated, but the most common is that of Saint Valentine, who was a Christian priest during the reign of Emperor Claudius II in Rome. According to legend, the emperor forbade marriage among his soldiers in order to preserve their fighting efficiency and to warn them against the weakness that might arise from family ties. Valentin, not agreeing with this ban, secretly married young lovers. For this he was arrested and for his faith and kindness to people he was executed on February 14, 269. Later, in 496, he was canonized as a saint, and February 14 became his feast day.
