Exploits of Faith is a must-read book! We are in a dispensation of time where faith is no longer valued. You discover many people talk about it, but very few live by it. Faith is non-negotiable! In Scriptures about four times, God commands us to live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4, Galatians 3:11, Romans 1:16 and Hebrews 10:38-39). Why? Faith is a serious subject in the agenda of God. It ranks top above everything!

In this book, Pastor Mfula talks about the matchless power of faith. He further explains that faith is not cheap, instead, it will cost you everything. Faith is the only way to move God and the only way to stop the devil. Nothing moves the hand of God like faith does. Faith will never be outdated, no matter how modern the world becomes. So, if you want to please God and experience dramatic change in your life, faith is the way to go!

God once said to me, “Go! I’m sending you like I sent Moses, my prophet, to liberate my people from all oppressions of the devil through the preaching and teaching of the Word of Faith. Raise the foundations of many generations, prophesy over them and school them into supernatural knowledge, wisdom, and exploits; impart into them my power and wisdom; release them into their glorious and unparalleled destinies.”

Introduction

We live in a dispensation of time where faith has lost its relevance to many people, even Christians. The more the world gains ground, the more people walk by sight. Sad to say, many things today have taken the place of faith. It is terrible because that is now happening even in churches. God forbid! Only a few Christians appreciate the importance of faith in God’s divine agenda. Most of them put their faith in governments, corporations, and the health systems of this world without even knowing.

If the preachers or pastors are not preaching about the importance of faith, we can’t blame anyone for having zero faith. Yes, people are not to blame at all! As pastors, it is our responsibility to people them the Word of God in order to build up their faith in God. Friends, faith cannot and will never be outdated. It is the very spiritual ingredient that gives us access to God’s presence. It is also the environment that God has designed for you and me to dwell in if we have to be in touch with Him.

Faith is irreplaceable! Nothing can take its place. It is a unique entity, and it is complete within itself. It does not need any help—it is self-reliant and all-powerful. Now, when I talk of faith, I’m talking of faith in Christ Jesus and His Word. Faith is the master key to a world of impact, transformation, and restoration. Hence, if you want to become a blessing to your family, city, nation, and generation, faith is a must. It comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Any person not within faith is out of alignment with God.

Many Christians claim to have faith, yet they have little or zero faith. Talking about faith is not what brings it! You need to engage yourself in reading, studying, and meditating on God’s Word. Yes, you need to dedicate yourself to the Word of God in order to build up a robust faith in your life. Faith is not just what you say, but also what you do. Preaching or singing about it will never produce it. The Word of God is one thing I know God has provided for us to build up our faith in Christ Jesus. Nothing more and nothing less!

In this book, we are going to have a look at faith in details, and what it can do and make out of us. You already know that without it, it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is the very epicentre and backbone of Christianity. Your life without it is not safe! Many people are pursuing so many things, even Christians neglecting the importance of faith. As children of God, we are called to pursue faith, righteousness, love, and godliness. Why? That is because it is the only way to walk in the fullness of God.

1 Timothy 6:10-12

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

I believe miracles do not happen because of our praying ability, but because we have faith in God. Any prayer offered outside of faith is powerless and can’t attract God’s attention. It takes faith to command the supernatural realm of God. Saints, you can’t have faith and never know it. Faith is not a wish or a dream, but something you develop by the intake of God’s Word in your life. You need it whilst you are here on earth, not when you go to Heaven.

Growing your faith is growing your life and destiny. Only faith will make a difference in your life. You can’t operate in the God-kind of faith and remain the same. I pray that as you read this book, your life will experience a total turnaround!!

Chapter 1

The Meaning of Faith

Hebrews 11:1-3

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Faith is Not a Definition

Many times during our church services, I have asked my congregants about the definitions of faith. It is amazing to say that everyone has such great definitions of faith. Some will say faith is having total confidence and trust in God and His Word. Powerful revelations! However, there is only one major and fundamental way faith will always come into our lives.

Romans 10:17

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Without hearing the Word of God in your life, faith won’t come! It doesn’t matter how prayerful you are—without God’s Word, faith won’t come. Now, coming back to faith definitions, there is nothing wrong with defining faith. However, you can have the best definition of faith, yet have zero faith at work in your life. There is more to faith than just defining it.

If there are no validating proofs in your lifestyle to the definition of your faith, then stop and keep quiet! The Kingdom of God is not there for us to impress anyone. No! You can impress someone with your flamboyant definitions of faith, but are you living by it? I have met so many people who are as loud as a loudspeaker, yet they have zero faith. Faith is substantial, powerful, glorious and living! It is very possible for you and me to confess with our mouths that we have faith when, in reality, we don’t even have it.

Most often, that happens when people do lots of talking as if they are the founders of faith. Faith is not so much in the talking, but in our actions that line up with God’s Word. It is not even a definition, but a covenant walk with God regarding His plan for our lives. Besides, God is not more interested in the confessions of our faith than our lifestyles. It is unwise to impress everyone with the words of your faith, which may be, in a genuine sense, empty. If you do not have it, do not pretend—accept it and seek help!

Mark 9:20-24

Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

The father of the boy in the above Scripture was genuine with the state or condition of his faith. The man was real to Jesus and himself—pretenders are always losers! Do not pretend your faith is doing well when in the actual sense it needs divine help. Living to impress everyone you come across in life is not wisdom at all, but foolishness! If your faith is struggling and not producing results come out in the open, Jesus will fix it for you.

James 2:14; 17-18

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

If you don’t have faith, don’t pretend you have it. Never pose to make yourself feel relevant to society! Your faith, accompanied by actions, determines your spiritual height and weight in the Kingdom of God. Every- one can talk or confess that they have faith, but wait for a storm or test to come — they will panic and never look to Jesus. I have met several people, even Christians, who assert to have faith, but in reality, they don’t have it. “How do you know Pastor George?” Well, your actions will always show whether you have faith.

Hebrews 12:2

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. He wrote and finished the subject of faith. Now, the primary reason people struggle in their faith today is because Jesus is no longer their focus. Your faith is as strong as the relationship you have with Jesus. If Jesus is missing in your life, then your faith will be equally missing!

Galatians 2:20 (AMP)

I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

3 Definitions of Faith

(1). FAITH IS OBEDIENCE TO GOD AND HIS WORD

Many people claim to have faith in God and His Word yet, they can’t obey His Word. The reason we refer to Abraham as the father of faith is because of his total and unwavering obedience to God and His Word at every point of his life. He obeyed God’s Word and instructions with delight. At one time, God instructed Him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, and he obeyed with no hesitation. He was a man of obedience!

Genesis 22:1-3

Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

Failure to obey God and His Word implies a lack of faith. One thing that faith in God does is to obey God and His commandments. Whatever you say, quote or recite from the Scriptures is not as important as walking in obedience to them (the Scriptures or God’s Word). Each time our faith comes alive through our obedience to God, God gets committed to performing His holy Word in our lives. Abraham obeyed God, and God accredited him for righteousness — he obtained a testimony of faith by his obedience.

Romans 4:3

For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
