Wisdom of Veda & Yoga

In this series “Wisdom of Veda & Yoga” we explore different concepts of Kṛṣṇa or God Consciousness, the practice of Bhakti-Yoga, devotional service.

For the last decade I have traveled around the world to search out the truth and embraced many different paths of wisdom.

Coming to the Kṛṣṇa Bhakti-Yoga tradition, especially the Gaudiya Vaisnavas from India I found shelter and made friends with the Hare Kṛṣṇa lifestyle and movement.

Yoga means “Union” or “to link up”, this refers to the Absolute Truth which comes in a personal and

impersonal form. This wisdom of Yoga is manifested in the Vedas, the Word of God.

The Vedas discuss Polymorphic Bi-Monotheism, a unique Supreme God who is apparent in Radha-Kṛṣṇa, the divine couple, manifesting in many forms.

Studying this tradition is fun and practical. It turned my personal life around and became my life and soul. For example, learning Sanskrit, the Mother of all Languages is great joy.

Despite being rooted in this Bhakti-Yoga tradition, I also explored the world in search of wisdom and truth.

Naturally, this path led me to find a spiritual guide, Srila Prabhupada, who dispelled my doubts and fears. By studying his writings a certain reality and purpose became clear. Was that all in all?

In this Yoga process I found an all-inclusive resort which settled all other practices and beliefs.

The Vedas have a unique ability to integrate a universal teaching in one's life that is found in the teachings of all great faith leaders, like Jesus Christ, the Buddha and Srila Prabhupada.

Parikrama means pilgrimage, an endeavour to travel to a sacred site and to honor it by circumambulating. This spiritual travel has been going on since time

immemorial. Certainly, it has not lost its importance in the time being. The reasons are certainly clear.

Pilgrimage is enlivening, enlightening and enthusing.

Maybe one is hankering for change and a fresh approach to life. A spiritual travel can definitely help to change one's perception on life. Maybe one is looking for wisdom and truth. This can be found in such a travel, as holy places always host saints and sages who have seen the truth and share it with others. Maybe one is lost in the darkness of this material world, hence searching for inspiration and transformation. Definitely, one can be enthused by such a spiritual journey, as inspiration is behind every step, every corner, every encounter.

Pilgrimage means leaving behind the old and venturing to a sacred space where saints and sages are waiting to enlighten one.

Come on a literal pilgrimage with personalities, places & problem-solving keys that are opening the doors of success in spiritual life.

Introduction

This book came about in the process of self-discovery and is based on timeless yogic teachings of the Vedas.

Yoga is the science to “link up with the Supreme”, and it is authorised through the oldest theological treatise, the Sanskrit wisdom of Veda.

“What are the Vedas? The Sanskrit verbal root of veda can be interpreted variously, but the purport is finally one. Veda means knowledge. Any knowledge you accept is veda, for the teachings of the Vedas are the original knowledge.”

(Introduction Sri Isopanishad)

In due course of this book, we will visit 8 spiritual places, finding one key to bliss each.

These places are in our consciousness and physically present in this world.

The author has been on a quest to search out the

“Absolute Truth” and through the map of the Vedas capable to track the footsteps of saints who have walked these places.

Be excited for a journey into history, to experience the spiritual geography of the world and receive keys to a wonderfully blissful truth that transcends death.

Let us be honest, we all have one thing in common, that is we all have to face death. How do we deal with this issue, as it is all around us, and inevitable to our life as well?

We might hear about, or even see it happen, some few of us deal with it daily. The simple question; “How can one transcend the fear of death?” will be answered in this book.

Why does death exist at all? Wouldn't life be so wonderful, eternally going on? Isn't it possible that we might face a paradox in life and death, as it seems to repeat again and again?

We see the sun, at the end of the day disappearing, but does the sun die? It is merely a transition happening over the apparent horizon, similarly, life is present over the horizon of consciousness, but absent when beyond it.

Life means consciousness, an activity of knowing to be, a state of awareness that arises and sets like the sun. At the beginning and end of one's life's horizon, however, what stays is this consciousness.

If we start to see beyond the horizon, one can witness a wonderful thing: While the night sets in, the rays of the setting sun still appear beaming over the edge.

Sometimes in one's life one can see over the edge of

inevitable death and experience a sight beyond the curtain of life.

There is something more, something lasting and eternal.

This in retrospect is confirmed in the sacred texts of the Vedas which clearly indicate the spiritual nature as such, ever-existing, absolute in knowledge and bliss.

This spiritual nature is dormant within all spiritual beings.

Now, are you spiritual? Do you know about your spiritual nature of eternity, absolute knowledge and bliss? Have you ever experienced a glimpse behind the curtain of life and death?

Write about it.
