The Real Historical Figures

Prologue

The unimaginable suffering caused by Adolf Hitler and his regime reverberates in our world even today. The upcoming story aims to suggest an alternative reality where this catastrophe never occurred. It takes us back to Hitler's childhood and youth, a time before extremist thoughts took hold, when he was passionately devoted to the world of art, yet also marked by a profound sense of aimlessness etched into his soul by a challenging childhood.

His journey leads him to Vienna, the turning point in his fate. Unexpected encounters with fascinating individuals divert him onto new paths, profoundly influencing his thinking and life – individuals who did exist in reality. However, some of them never crossed his path in the true course of history.

Fate also plunges him into the maelstrom of the First World War, where he must fight. Here, his true nature is revealed – not as the valiant warrior he portrayed in his real-life account, 'Mein Kampf', but as a fearful soldier who detests the war profoundly.

The forthcoming narrative will immerse itself in an alternative reality where a man, through unexpected experiences and fateful turns, assumes a completely different role in the world – one that stands for values such as creativity, humanity, and hope, far removed from darkness and destruction.

Chapter 1: The Gloom of Young Years

On April 20, 1889, I came into this world in the picturesque town of Braunau am Inn. My parents, Klara and Alois Hitler, shaped my early years, but a carefree childhood was unfortunately denied to me.

I had seven siblings, of whom only three reached adulthood: my half-siblings Alois junior and Angela, and my beloved sister Paula. Even in my early childhood, my other siblings succumbed to diseases like measles and diphtheria, which placed an enormous burden on our family, especially my mother. She also suffered from the severity and quick temper of my father, a man marked by the shadows of life. With an iron hand, he ruled over us. His strict upbringing cast a dark cloud over my childhood days. He was a man of discipline and order, and he expected the same from us children. We had clearly defined tasks and duties that our father monitored with relentless severity.

Cleaning and household chores were not just tedious responsibilities for us children; they were often sources of fear. If we didn't meet our father's high standards, we faced a true nightmare. For every lapse or misbehaviour, physical punishment awaited us. The blows we endured left not only physical pain but also deep scars on our souls. The physical scars healed, but the emotional wounds remained.

Our academic performance was mercilessly scrutinized. If it did not meet our father's lofty expectations, we endured not only humiliations but also additional torments. He forced us to complete senseless tasks until our strength was depleted. Punishments also included deprivation of anything that brought us joy. We were denied meals or placed under house arrest, with no regard for our physical or emotional well-being. We were trapped in a perpetual cycle of fear and oppression.

But at least I could count on the support of my siblings, who often provided me with precious moments of comfort. Among them, it was Paula who touched my heart in a truly special way. In her unconditional love and support, I found solace and reassurance. "Adolf, come here immediately!" my father's voice boomed through the room, as it so often did. A knot of fear and despair formed in my stomach as I slowly approached him. His face was contorted with anger, and his words pierced my heart like sharp arrows. "What are these poor grades again? You're a disgrace to the family!" he scolded and raised his hand menacingly. I closed my eyes and braced myself for the painful blow. But instead, a different wave of surprise washed over me. Paula, my beloved sister, threw herself between us and shouted with a voice full of courage and determination, "Leave him alone! It's not his fault that school is so difficult for him." Her words echoed through the room, leaving an indelible impression on my heart as tears of relief streamed down my cheeks. In that moment, I recognized the priceless value of Paula's unconditional love and protection.

Chapter 2: Turbulent Times

Our family was forced to move frequently. Places like Braunau am Inn, Passau, Hafeld, Lambach, and Leonding temporarily became our residences. My father, an Austrian customs official, relentlessly drove us from place to place, and his professional obligations allowed no stability. Every new stop on my quest for education added to the burden of my uncertain journey. From 1895 to 1899, I attended various elementary schools, and the constant change significantly disrupted my schooling. My insecurity and constant adaptation threatened to overwhelm me. I lacked an anchor in a world that seemed determined to uproot me repeatedly. Loneliness was my constant companion. The numerous relocations made it difficult to form friendships, so I retreated more and more into my own world.

In 1900, at the age of eleven, I entered the doors of the Federal Real Gymnasium
