WATCH: THE CALM AND THE
REFLECTIVE
Mira was a girl who preferred to observe rather than
place herself in the spotlight. His thoughts were rich
and deep, often filled with stories and dreams that he
didn't tell anyone. He loved books,
long walks and the silence they had on the shore of
the lake
Found. For Mira, the lake was more than a piece of
nature, it was a mirror of her own soul: calm,
mysterious, and full of unexplored depths.
But Mira's restraint was often misunderstood. At
school, she was considered the "funny girl",
who rarely spoke and preferred to occupy himself
with drawings or notes, while others spoke in groups.
He didn't have many friends, but that didn't bother
him, until Leah came into his life.

But Leah is the complete opposite of Mira. They were
full of energy, a whirlwind that could never stop. His
voice was loud, his laugh contagious, and he had the
rare gift of being the center of attention in any room
without even trying. Lea loved adventure, she was
always the first to sign up for a prank or accept a new
test of courage.
But beneath its cheerful façade was a longing for
freedom. That they often felt constrained by their
parents' expectations, the rules of the school, the
unwritten laws of village life. The lake was a place of
arrival for them. He always said that there was a
breath there, that the water gave him a freedom that
he could not find anywhere else.
THE BEGINNINGS OF THEIR FRIENDSHIP
Their friendship began one rainy afternoon when Mira
sat alone by the lake and wrote in a notebook. Lea,
who had passed by on her bicycle, had stopped to
protect herself from the sudden rain under a tree.
"What are you doing?" Lea asks bluntly as she wipes
the rain from her hair with her jacket.
Mira was startled with surprise. "I write."
7
"Writing? About what?
Mira hesitated. She wasn't used to anyone showing
interest in her, let alone someone like Leah. Finally,
he murmured, "Across the lake." and.... About
dreams".
Leah sat next to Mira uninvited, her eyes shining with
curiosity. "That sounds exciting! You know; I once
dreamed that I could breathe underwater. Maybe I'm
a mermaid.
Mira had to smile; And at that moment something
began to grow between them. It was as if Lea had
broken through the invisible wall that always
separated Mira from the others.
TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN
From that day on, Mira and Lea became inseparable.
They were like two sides of the same coin,
complementing each other in a way that even they
couldn't understand. Lea gave life and adventure to
Mira, took her out of her comfort zone and showed
her that it was fun to take risks.
8
Look, on the other hand, was Leah's anchor,
someone she could let go. While others only saw her
happy façade, Mira recognized the quiet moments
when Lea showed her insecurities. She listened
without judgment and gave Leah a space where she
could be herself.
THE LAKE: THEIR COMMON REFUGE
The lake became their secret meeting place, a place
that belonged only to them. They spent hours there,
They told each other stories, threw stones into the
water and talked about their dreams. Lea had a
special connection with water: she always said that
the lake, that it was alive.
9
"Sometimes I think he wants to tell us something,"
Lea once said as she waded into the water.
"Maybe hidden secrets that only we can find."
Mira found this idea terrifying, but also fascinating. I
didn't know if I should believe in those things, but
Leah had a way of making even the craziest ideas
believable.
THE LAST DAYS BEFORE THE
DISAPPEARANCE
In the days leading up to her disappearance, Lea had
been different. She was quieter, more thoughtful, as
if she had something in her head that she couldn't
share. Mira had noticed, but Lea dodged her
questions.
"It's nothing, really," he had said and smiled, but the
smile didn't reach his eyes.
"I just have a lot of things on my mind."
The night before her disappearance, Lea had sent
Mira another message:
"Dreams are sometimes more than just dreams,
Mira. I think I'm going to discover something big. Will
we meet tomorrow at the lake?
10
But Mira hadn't arrived. He hadn't felt well and had
spent his arm at home. Now he wondered if he had
guessed something, if he had been able to stop Leah.
CHAPTER: 2 THE SHADOWS BY LAKE THE
NIGHTMARE
The night was quiet, but Mira tossed and turned in her
bed. In her dream, she was sitting again on the shore
of the lake, the one on the outskirts of her small
town. The fog hung heavily over the water and the
surface was so calm that it looked like a mirror. Mira
is standing on the shore, barefoot, her feet sunk into
the cold, muddy ground.
The lake in front of her is motionless, a mirror-
smooth surface that shows no depth. She feels that
she is being watched. Suddenly, the silence was
broken, the water began to boil, and a small figure
emerged from the depths. She was a child. Long, wet
hair stuck

Mira, teaching and at the same time filled with pain.
She looks like Lea, her classmate. The girl's eyes are
empty, her mouth moves as if she is saying
something, but Mia only hears a distorted whisper.
"Help," Mia thinks she understands. He wants to run
away, but his legs feel like they're frozen.
Mira wanted to leave, but she couldn't move. The girl
came closer, the water around her strangely calm, as
if carrying her in her arms. His hands, thin and bony,
reached out in Mira's direction.
12
Suddenly, everything changes. The air became heavy,
the fog darker. Something moves at the edge of his
field of vision, shadows piercing through the fog like
predators. They
They were brief, but their presence was
overwhelming.
The girl shook her head as if she had also noticed the
shadow. His eyes widened in fear and he began to
scream desperately, but the sound was mute.
Then it happened: then he saw something emerging
from the shadows of the trees on the shore: dark,
amorphous figures that

girl, she screams silently. The shadows shot towards
the girl, entwined her like black tentacles. He

Mira is startled, sweat sticks to her neck, her
breathing is accelerated. His heart beats as if he had
really been in the depths of the lake.

"No! Stop it! Look, try to move, scream, do
something. But she was paralyzed, her voice choked
in her throat.
The shadows dragged the girl into the depths. His

the water. The last thing Mira saw was a hand sticking
out of the water before it was swallowed as well.
14
The water calmed down, the fog settled back on the
surface. Everything was silent again. But then Mira
felt something cold, slippery, and thin around her
ankle. He looked down and saw a hand sticking out of
the
mud and grabbed it before they swallowed it too.
A scream from his throat, a sound that fluctuated
between despair and fear of death, and then he woke
up.
Mira jumped up, her body shaking uncontrollably. He
felt the cold sweat on his forehead and the beating of
his heart. Her hands clung to hope as if it were the
only thing that kept her clinging to reality.
But even now, Mira watches her room, there was still
something. The darkness in the
The corners of the room felt alive, as if the shadows
of her dream had followed her. And in his head a
single word persists, clear and insistent:
"Help:"

CHAPTER :3 DISAPPEARANCE
The next morning, an eerie silence came over the
school, as if the world was holding its breath.
Mira feels it immediately when she walks through the
front door:
Normally, the hallway was filled with laughter and
loud babbling of students' voices. The faces of his
classmates are tense.
16
"Have you heard it yet?" Mira's best friend
approached her: her voice was low, almost a
whisper, but her eyes were wide with worry. "Lea is
gone"
Mira held her breath. "What... What do you mean?

"She didn't come home last night. His parents called
the police. Clara cast a nervous glance over her
shoulder, as if someone could hear her. They
I searched the woods late into the night, but found
nothing. Nothing, look. It just disappeared."
A shiver ran down Mira's spine. "Was it she... Was
she in the lake?"
Clara shuddered as if the word "lake" had hit her
physically. "Nobody knows. But his parents said the
last time he got on a bike. Maybe someone saw them,
or..."
Clara was silent until she reached my lips.
"Or what?" His voice was now little more than a sigh.
"Or.... She has something. Clara whispered the
words, but they rang in Mira's head like thunder.

THE LESSON: THE DEPRESSING
END OF EMPTINESS
Leah's place was empty, and the teacher, Mrs.
Becker, tried desperately to continue the lesson. But
even she couldn't hide the nervousness in her voice.
"Please focus on the task," he said, but his eyes kept
wandering to the empty seat in the second row.
18
Mira couldn't concentrate. Again and again his
thoughts wandered too empty. She saw his lively face
in front of her, his laughter,

no one knew why.

The other students whisper behind closed doors.
Mira's ears caught fragments of the conversations:
„… maybe it disappeared..."
"...Did she see when she went into the woods...?
„… My mother says yes... Things we don't
understand."
Mira bit her lower lip, the words of her dream echoing
in her head:
