In 1993 the world witnessed a pivotal moment in its history. The enormity of this many failed to understand and today, over two decades later, still few truly grasp. The Waco event is now etched in the world's consciousness. Understanding WACO & SALVATION gives a firsthand snapshot into the spirituality of the Branch Davidians. Comparing their beliefs against the wider societal context, it shows the meaning of this important event for the future of mankind. It also reveals why they were moved to stand in defence of their faith, even in the face of death. A fascinating and informative read...

“And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.”1

“The Righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in is uprightness.”3
“And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.”4

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his Saints…When he maketh inquisition for blood he remembereth them; he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.”5
It is now over twenty three years since the US government attacked our community at Waco Texas in 1993. Over the years I have watched as our attackers and their supporters manipulate and mislead the public, blaming us for what they did. In a shameful attempt to hold themselves not guilty the false narrative they tell about the event is exactly what the prophecies said they would do.6 Even today during the Oregon standoff this continues to be rehashed. Listening to the statements coming out of their mouths as they compared these two events reveal they are now hardened in their falsehood. The passage of time and the seeming “inadvertent” nature of their actions back in 1993 have made them more prone to believe it themselves. This is really a way to pacify what remains of their conscience, but this doesn’t make it true.
We understand that it is the spirit and motive of a thing that is the measure of it. Also, that which is eternal cannot be made otherwise so by that which is temporal. Our attackers fail to realize that the years following the 1993 Waco event was allotted to them in order that they might come to repentance. While God’s Judgment is going on, in their blindness they risk the eternal loss of their souls. How this works was shown in King Solomon’s judgment of the two harlots noted in 1Kings 3:16-28. The nature of this case was such that truth and falsehood appeared impossible to tell apart. The false narrative of the woman who inadvertently killed her child appeared more convincing to the people than the truth from the real mother of the living child. This said a lot about the moral condition of the people. Nevertheless, the judgment Solomon devised caused the woman to unwittingly, out of her own mouth, expose her falsehood for all to see. A similar set-up happens at the opening of the 6th seal; the next stage in the matters concerning David Koresh and the events of Waco. Then the truth will be unmistakably clear. The false narrative of our attackers, which has long enjoyed the cover and approval of officialdom, will be clearly seen for the deception that it is. Along with its perpetrators, those who have chosen to buy into it also risk the eternal loss of their souls. Even while we condemn no one and despite the years that have passed, my brethren and I remain in no doubt that our God will justify us.7
Although what happened in1993 is very important it was but an unfortunate interruption in the big picture of what our group was truly about. Our focus remains the long hoped for Kingdom of God. This is soon to appear on the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem as the scriptures foretold. It answers to the deep yearning of the soul for freedom from the bondage and death of our fallen humanity. Speaking of this, the prophet Isaiah wrote,
“And in this mountain shall the LORD of host making unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.”8
It was as hot a summer’s day as they come in Texas. David and a few of the guys were on the road in front of the Mt Carmel property. Scott Sonobe, Michael Schroeder and Steve Schneider were just some of the guys among them. We were leisurely kicking it, riding motorbikes up and down the road. It was a nice relaxed scene on what was to me a prairie type setting; like I ...use to see while watching American cowboy movies on TV as a kid back here in England. The land was flat allowing us to see for miles around. Only a few properties dotted the scene of open fields, grass and clumps of trees here and there. David got on one of the bikes that didn’t seem to want to start. Along with my dear friends Scott and Michael we got behind him and started to push, thinking to jump-start it. They appear to put all their effort into it as we ran pushing it down the road. I kept a little energy in reserve. We ran quite some ways down the road but each time David let out the clutch it just spluttered. This happened two or three times. On this next occasion the guys put what remained of their efforts into it, but still nothing happened. It just wouldn’t seem to start. Exhausted, Scott fell to the ground in cheerful laughter. Michael and I kept pushing until he too also fell. With what reserve of energy I had left I kept on pushing but at a much, much slower pace than when all three of us were pushing together. We got to the end of the road and turned around to head back to the property. Scott and Michael were already walking back and close to the gate. Almost breathless and ignoring the strain this was having on my body (while trying not to show it) I kept on pushing. Not that this would cause the bike to start, I felt there was something more going on here than what might appear. Finally we arrived back at the gate with the rest of the guys.
