Kate stood at the side of the road and waited for her ride, he was late and that annoyed her to the core.
“Why did I agree to ride with him, he is already an hour late! He better have a good reason for it!” Kate thought to herself.
She was at that point of anger where given the chance, would walk until her destination just to teach him a lesson.
Kate was supposed to go on a trip with some of her classmates. They had agreed that since they had completed their last semester, they would at least have a last get together before everyone went their different ways.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Kate was forced to leave with a fellow classmate, Brian, as they couldn’t leave with the rest of the class.
The worst part about it was that for the longest time possible, Kate had had a crash on him.
So when the opportunity arouse for them to travel together, Kate got scared and upset at the same time.
She figured that if she didn’t act like she gave a crap about the guy, then the ride will be swift and amazing.
After scrolling through her phone for the twelfth time, Kate decided to call him one last time.
“Hey, am really sorry am late...”
That voice, that beautiful but annoying voice could only mean one thing.
Brian had arrived; Kate placed her phone aside and turned to him.
He walked to her and stretched out his hand to greet her.
He was a handsome young man, and for some reason seemed to be on his best behavior that day.
“Yea, I was just about to call you,”
Kate started, she was trying to change the subject and act like nothing had occurred.
She was trying to act like there was nothing inside her that warmed her heart when she saw him or made her smile when she pictured his beautiful smile.
She stretched out her hand to greet him then placed it down as quickly as she could.
“I really am sorry, something came up and I was forced to…”
“It’s okay; you don’t need to apologize..., shall we?”
“Okay… sure...”
Brian bent down and picked up her suitcases, as much as Kate tried to hide it, she was at that point thanking the universe on how much of a gentleman he was.
“The car is this way,” Brian said as he carried the suitcases.
