Mia made her way to the waiting area, she and her companion still had a few minutes before departure.
She took a glance at the time then took in a few deep breaths.
To Mia, this was going to be one of those trips where with every choice she made, a nasty consequence would rise.
She took another look around and stared at the entrance, her heart was beating quickly and Mia couldn’t control her emotions.
After a few minutes of staring, Mia spotted her companion from a distance and waved at him. As she watched him walk towards her, Mia started having second thoughts about the entire ordeal.
She couldn’t understand why a guy like him would be interested I a girl like her, it wasn’t like he was way out of her league but since the two began an intimate relationship, Mia waited for the other shoe to drop.
In her defense, that was what happened to most of her relationships and Mia didn’t see this one as being any different.
In fact, going into the relationship, Mia had a number of reservations that stemmed out of her insecurities and past experiences.
“Hey you,” her companion started as he stretched out his arms to give her a hug.
“Hey, I didn’t think you were going to make it…”
“Why so? Because of ultimatums,”
“You do know why I had to put those in place don’t you?”
“Yea… yea I know, but I want you to treat me as a guy your age who has shown genuine interest in you and not as your best friend’s father…”
There it was, the reminder that Mia had been trying to shake since she arrived at the Ferry.
She had technically forced him to go on the trip, as she felt that he had to show her that he was serious. The two had become close after Mia failed her fist try for the bar examinations.
At that moment, Mia spent an entire month, crying herself to sleep and wishing that she hadn’t been born. However, it was him that called the most to check up on her and ensure that she was okay.
After the timetable and second registration were issued, he was the one who encouraged her to read and not give up on her dreams.
He went the extra mile by offering her one of his houses to study in because according to him, she deserved peace and quiet that would yield a high level of concentration.
After the bar exams, the two kept in touch and even went on a few dates.
At the beginning, they called their hooking up meetings, until they were both comfortable enough to see each other as more than friends.
