Bus Ride with Mom’s Best Friend

This book is a work of fiction and any resemblance to persons, living or dead, or places, events or locales is purely coincidental.

It is intended only for adults over the age of 18 and all characters are represented as 18 or over.

My mom had recently connected with this friend, Esther, who was a next-door neighbor to us. Occasionally, she would come over to our place and we would hang out together.

She lived alone and didn’t seem to have any kids, or so I thought.

I had later on found out that mom and Esther were actually childhood friends, best friends actually, and that this meeting and relocation was more or less planned.

You see, my dad wasn’t always around when I was growing up. He was always travelling around the world, for some important business trips.

My mom later found out that my dad had been cheating on her and actually had another family in a different state.

The news was devastating to her, who had been a good, loving, and faithful wife. She couldn’t handle the trauma and decided to divorce him.

My mom and dad got divorced when I was still young, and he didn’t find it important to check up on me, his kid.

Not like I cared or anything, I had grown up used to his negligence and didn’t even bother getting close to him.

My mom and I moved to Washington DC and had been here ever since. My mom was sixteen when she had me.

I am twenty-four years old and I still live with my mom. I already had a good paying job and could readily move out of this house at any time, but some things held me in place.
