This book is a work of fiction and any resemblance to persons, living or dead, or places, events or locales is purely coincidental.

It is intended only for adults over the age of 18 and all characters are represented as 18 or over.

Shirley couldn’t fall asleep. She kept tossing and turning as she tried to ignore the loud music from her neighbor’s house. Dylan had only been in the neighborhood for a week and so far, he had done nothing but throw big parties.

Ever since Dylan had moved in, Shirley couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. As a result, her performance at work had suffered. She kept dozing off; she was highly distracted and made careless mistakes. Her best friend Cindy had noticed the change in her behavior and had tried to cover for her. However, her boss had noticed and had written her up.

It was her first warning. The rule was that you got three warning before you went into probation. If your performance didn’t improve during probation you got fired.

One warning was not a threat for most of the employees. If you didn’t make any more mistakes in the span of three months, they removed it from your records. However, Shirley was terrified when she got hers.

Shirley had always been a hard worker. She got to work on time; she worked hard and never caused trouble. People would go as far as to call her a perfectionist. Getting a warning was worrying for her. It meant that she wasn’t doing very well.
