Job Interview

This book is a work of fiction and any resemblance to persons, living or dead, or places, events or locales is purely coincidental.

It is intended only for adults over the age of 18 and all characters are represented as 18 or over.

Yvonne couldn’t believe that the young man was late for his interview. That was the problem with young people these days. They were all talk never putting in the actual work. From the conversation she’d had with him on the phone, he’d seemed like a dedicated man intent to make his mark on the world. As it turned out, he was just good with his words.

Yvonne had been waiting for a whole hour when she decided that it was time for her to move on. She’d tried calling him on his cell but he wouldn’t answer. At this point, she had a feeling that he had been playing a prank on her. He clearly didn’t need the job.

Unfortunately for Yvonne, she desperately needed someone to take over the maintenance affairs in her building. This one had seemed perfect. He had no wife and kids so that meant no responsibility other than himself.

He’d just joined law school after two years of saving up for college. He needed a quick way to make money to keep up with his daily expenses so this job was perfect for him. In fact with the promise of free boarding, it was the best deal he could get.

Yvonne was surprised that she had waited for him this long. She had had a good feeling about this one and to have all her hopes dashed so suddenly irritated her. She’d just have to put up flyers again for a new caretaker.

She had just walked out of the small caretaker’s office when a young man came running up to her. He was a handsome man in his mid twenties. He wore thick rimmed glasses and a nice suit that was damp from sweat.
