Alan Walker was not happy about having to leave town. He had lived here his whole life. He did not want to leave his friends and family behind. While leaving all he had ever known and loved behind was difficult, he felt that he had no other choice. Mr. Chase had been very clear about what he expected from the young man. There was no telling what he would do if he crossed the man.
It was barely morning when he pulled out of his driveway in his rusty old truck. His family had never been rich if the state of their house was anything to go by. They lived isolated from the rest of the town. Their house stood not too far from the woods where wild animals lurked and criminals hid from the police.
Theirs was the most feared spot in the town. However, Alan had never known anything else. As a result of his surroundings, Alan and his siblings had become rather resilient. They weren’t afraid of the animals and instead hunted them. As children, they had even played together in the woods as long as it wasn’t dark.
The Walkers also lived in social isolation. A majority of the town would not accept them as they thought them too backward. That was until Alan had met Amanda Chase. Not only had Amanda taken him under her wing, she had convinced her family to do the same.
The Chase family first moved into town when Amanda and Alan were still teenagers. Amanda was a loner. She liked to take long walks near the woods though she was terrified to go inside. It was done on one of her walks that they had met. The two children had taken an instant liking to each other and had become best friends.
