When I was working with Axel Ertelt from Halver on the manuscript for "Portals and Teleportation," which was published as a book in 2023, we repeatedly came across stories where eyewitnesses reported that things, items, or objects disappeared without a trace overnight. Considering that many of these things were found again because the person misplaced them or forgot them somewhere. In English, this disappearance is called a "disappearing object phenomenon" (DOP). It's a seemingly widespread phenomenon in which an object seemingly disappears from view, only to later reappear in another, often obvious, location. However, it is further explained: "Although it is often attributed to forgetfulness or the wrong location, some reports point to a genuine "unexplained phenomenon"! This astonished us, because Axel and I have already experienced situations where "something" disappeared without a trace and inexplicably. But how does this "haunting" come about? Since it couldn't be a silly joke, ghosts, or anything like that, we continued our research online. We wondered if anyone had already seriously studied the "Disappearing Object Phenomenon" (DOP). Because we didn't find anything interesting in German-speaking countries, we began our search with just two English terms. Our search terms were "dinge, die spurlos verschwunden" = "things that disappeared without a trace" and "Gegstand unerklärlich verschwunden" = "object inexplicably disappeared." With this book, I am probably the first German author to venture a little further. I would like to at least give you an idea of the controversial hypothesis about the JOTT phenomenon. It sounds a bit like magic, doesn't it? This book presents a bold hypothesis.

The book Portals and Teleportation – in german
Foreword
When I was working with Axel Ertelt on the manuscript for "Portals and Teleportation," which was published as a book in 2023, we repeatedly encountered stories in which eyewitnesses recounted how things, items, or objects disappeared without a trace overnight. Considering that many of these things were found again because the person misplaced them or forgot them somewhere. Actually, we were primarily concerned with people disappearing without a trace. But these stories kept surfacing in our research. This intrigued us.
In English, the disappearance is called a "disappearing object phenomenon" (DOP). A seemingly widespread phenomenon in which an object seemingly vanishes from view, only to later reappear in another, often obvious, location. However, it goes on to explain: "Although often attributed to forgetfulness or misplacement, some reports suggest a genuine unexplained phenomenon." And that's precisely what we were looking for an answer to an "unexplained phenomenon." After examining dozens of cases, a few "unexplained cases" remained for which there was no answer. So, confirmation of the possibility?
Then, after some time, I discovered the personal name "Mary Rose Barrington," who coined the term "JOTT (Just One of Those Things)" for this "haunting event" and simultaneously presented it as a new hypothesis. I wrote an article about this in 2023.
With this book, I'm probably the first German author to venture a little further. I'd like to give you at least a basic understanding of this controversial hypothesis about the JOTT phenomenon. It sounds a bit like magic, doesn't it? This book brings you a little closer to a bold hypothesis.

What is parapsychology?
Parapsychology (also known as parascience or pseudoscience) is defined as an "interdisciplinary field of research" that deals with paranormal phenomena that transcend the known laws of classical academic science. Although parapsychology is often mistakenly classified as "supernatural" (esotericism, occultism) or even denigrated, parapsychology itself strives for the scientific investigation of the following such "phenomena." Examples include:
- Extrasensory perception
- Bilocation
- Homeopathy
- JOTT phenomenon
- Cryptozoology
- Portal research
- Pre-astronautics
- Ufology
