Without a doubt, ufology and the search for extraterrestrial intelligences and clues are among the most fascinating concepts in the process of human understanding. It probably began in unknown times, when early humans were unexpectedly "confronted" with aliens and UFOs. This is evidenced, for example, by petroglyphs and figures that presumably depict such encounters or what they saw. Pre-astronautics, which we will come to later, even assumes that extraterrestrial intelligences visited Earth in the prehistory of humanity and significantly influenced human civilization. Ancient myths and legends of gods were also studied for this purpose. Similar theories assume that there are still remnants and survivors of an ancient "super-civilization" that, after a massive "war of the gods or a global catastrophe," could exist in very remote areas or even in underground bases/worlds on Earth, on the Moon, Mars, and hidden in Antarctica. Then there's the hypothesis that UFOs could also originate from other dimensions (time travel) or parallel worlds. Do portals belong to this category? With the advent of manned space travel and the advent of television, interest in possible intelligent extraterrestrials flying through space with their spaceships and advanced technology, and even visiting Earth, rapidly grew worldwide. The fact that there are extraterrestrials with good or evil intentions is part of the creation of every single science fiction story. There are already tens of thousands of books and science fiction novels worldwide, as well as treatises and discussions, all dealing with ufology and extraterrestrials. Read here how I got into ufology and my conclusion.

Foreword
My first interest in UFOs probably began theoretically and completely subconsciously when I was only 8 years old and saw a real UFO. However, I didn't describe this experience until 2024, rather by chance and only after being asked about it. I'll come back to that later, and I'll write it without reflection.
Without a doubt, ufology and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and clues are among the most fascinating concepts in the process of human understanding.
The beginning probably dates back to an unknown time, when early humans were unexpectedly "confronted" with extraterrestrials and UFOs. This is evidenced, for example, by petroglyphs and figures that presumably depict such an encounter or what they saw.
The Paleo-SETI, which we'll come to later, even assumes that extraterrestrial intelligences visited Earth in the prehistory of humanity and significantly influenced human civilization. This was also supported by studies of ancient myths and “legends of gods”.
Similar theories assume that there are still remnants and survivors of an ancient "super-civilization" that, after a massive "war of the gods or a global catastrophe", could exist in very remote areas or even in underground bases/worlds on Earth, the Moon, Mars, and hidden in Antarctica. Then there's the hypothesis that UFOs could also originate from other dimensions (time travel) or parallel worlds. Do portals belong to this category?

1968 - a significant experience
In 2024, when I was exchanging emails with a fellow author about various "fringe science" topics, the topic of recent UFO reports briefly came up. During the conversation, we also discussed eyewitness accounts, and it slipped out unconsciously, "Yes, I had something too." Oops, I thought, "after all these years". My conversation partner immediately pricked up his ears. "What, tell me?!" Since my childhood, since this experience, very few people had known about my experience. I just thought it was so long ago, and yet I shared it with him a few days later. Everyone can decide for themselves what they think of it:
Even after all this time, it hasn't become any easier for me to talk about that unexpected experience. At the time it happened, I didn't tell anyone because I was firmly convinced they would just laugh at me. Who would believe something like that from an 8-year-old? After a few days, I had somehow repressed it, but it has remained an important memory in my life to this day. Even today, I remember every detail as if it were only yesterday. And this is how it really happened:
It was already early evening, around 6 p.m., and it had already gotten quite dark. I was still in the park with my friend Harald, where we regularly played because there were lots of meadows and trees. On our way home, we were less than ten minutes from the park entrance. My friend ran ahead, but didn't know why, but soon he was out of sight. He's probably hiding and trying to scare me, I thought. I continued walking normally, was almost at the exit, and suddenly felt like I had to look up. And then I saw a "miracle”.
At a height of only about 20 meters (I was only able to estimate the height much later), a circular object "stood" in the air. It was dark in color with two or three dark shades. In my excitement, I hadn't paid any attention to any noises, and at the time, I hadn't even considered that I might "hear" something. If there were any, they must have been quiet. Since it wasn't an airplane, I naturally had no idea what I was seeing, what it even was. I thought it was an upside-down soup plate or something similar. On the underside were six spheres or hemispheres. In some places, something glowed at the edge between the hemispheres, like lamps, but not too brightly. I didn't notice anything else, as it was just slightly tilted completely above me. I thought there was probably someone in there "flying", and I waved upwards several times with a childlike smile.
It only lasted maybe two minutes, I'd estimate today. As a child, you don't really have a sense of time, but it was short.
Because my friend called me: "Come quickly, there's something there!" I didn't know if he saw this "soup bowl", so I didn't call him and went over to it. He was only about ten meters away, waiting in front of a bush, and couldn't take his eyes off it. There was indeed a glowing greenish stone lying there. So we went there together and tried to get it out, an exciting adventure for us. We'd never seen anything like it before.
But when we touched the “stone”, we felt like it was burning our fingers (now I know it was like an electric shock). We screamed, and my boyfriend immediately ran home in shock. I felt uneasy too. I looked up, but there was nothing to be seen, so I ran home, which was only a few minutes away. I didn't tell my parents. My fingers had a strange feeling. But nothing was hurt, no blisters either, just a little red. I immediately went to the bathroom to check and ran cold water over them for a long time. That made them better. What could that have been?
The next day, I asked my boyfriend if he'd seen anything "special in the sky" as he was walking out of the park. No, he said, and asked me why I was asking. I just said, "Oh, just saying". The end.
When asked if I could sketch what I had experienced, I said no, saying I simply wasn't technically capable. So I tried to illustrate further details of what I had experienced as clearly as possible:
I was able to estimate the astonishingly low height of about 20 meters because there was a high-rise building in the district at the time that was roughly the same height, with 10 floors. The explanation for why the object was practically suspended in the air is probably anti-gravity. The diameter was probably a good 5-6 meters. The outermost "dish edge" was almost directly above me; it was tilted slightly—I estimate around 20%—and I could see almost the entire underside. Only the rearmost area was darkened/shadowed. Then, as I wrote, there were these 6 hemispheres. Presumably there were 1-2 more in the dark area? As a result, I could practically not see the top, or rather, I was only staring, mesmerized, at the underside. The ground seemed like two different ring structures put together, somehow blackish-grey and dark.
Figuratively speaking, I was coming out of the park. There were trees to the left and right of the exit, and the "object" was immediately visible, diagonally above. The bush where this strange stone lay was only about 10 meters to the right of the park exit. We couldn't find the stone the next day, even though it was deep in the bush. We assumed someone had taken it.
The only possible "aftereffect" of this was - but this is only a very vague guess - that the "taos-hum" phenomenon began in me soon, something I didn't suspect until much later. My parents took me to the ear doctor several times, who suspected tinnitus. But because I initially only heard this strange "buzzing" occasionally, and it didn't bother me, and I didn't want to go to the ear doctor anymore, I eventually simply said, "It's gone". My parents were very relieved; I had peace and quiet and didn't need to go to the ear doctor anymore. So, to this day, I don't know why this started for me around 1969. Therefore, no unnecessary speculation and just my personal assessment.
I found my hobbyhorses
Perhaps 1969 was the right "nudge" for me. Because I was so fond of stargazing after my UFO encounter, I was woken up early in the morning on July 16, 1969. I didn't feel like getting up and asked why I should get up. When they told me, "They're going to the moon", I was wide awake. Then I sat down in front of a small black-and-white television and watched the Apollo 11 launch. So impressed, of course, I later watched the moon landing as well. This sparked my interest in space travel.
After that, I followed the subsequent Apollo missions and all topics related to space travel, as much as time allowed. For my tenth birthday, my grandfather gave me a simple student telescope, my first telescope for clear starry nights. There were many nights after that when I observed the starry sky alone. I often wondered if "that" UFO would ever come again. I also began collecting newspaper articles about space travel and only allowed myself to receive books about space travel for my birthday and Christmas, which worked out.
Then I became a junior member of the German "Hermann Oberth Gesellschaft" (HOG). Hermann Oberth was a pioneer in space travel and supported the extraterrestrial hypothesis for the origin of UFOs, which he considered "spaceships from other solar systems". He concluded that UFOs could only be manned by intelligent beings and had been exploring Earth for at least centuries. This influenced my early thinking because extraterrestrial life was also discussed there. Actually, my membership in the HOG led me some time later to the first books that dealt with the theory of pre-astronautics. But also, of course, to science fiction novels, films, and series from that era.
My passion for science fiction grew during this time, and I grew up with the science fiction series "Space Patrol: The Fantastic Adventures of the Spaceship Orion", "Starship Enterprise", "Time Tunnel" and "UFO". Depending on the time of day, I wasn't allowed to watch television, but this restriction gradually eased. When I saw the afternoon series "UFO" on TV, it further confirmed my interest in possible extraterrestrials and extraterrestrial worlds. At around 11, I wrote little imaginary science short stories for myself, doodling various objects for each story. I saw aliens, spaceships, and strange worlds in my imagination and dreams, which was quite strange. This allowed me to hone my writing skills and write increasingly longer texts in notebooks. These stories with pictures became my sanctuaries and accompanied me as a child into fantastic worlds and events. Back then I was very shy.
At the beginning of 1972, I bought some trading cards from the TV series "UFO
